It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I really enjoyed the show you didn’t give the show a chance
Please put Taxi Brooklyn back on. TV stations always start a movie, get us hooked and than cancel it. Why?
NBC, please put Taxi Brooklyn back on. Why did TV stations get us hooked on a show just to cancel it?
I loved the show, at least they could have aired a couple of additional shows to give closure to the final episode. It was a bad way to end a show.
Taxi brooklyn was my favorite show i used to keep up with it now its never coming back. The season finale is just gonna be a mystery dont cancel mysterious of laura
we just watched it on netflix and loved it, need more!!
There needs to be another series
I’m not from the US, and I was watching it, and after that season finale they can’t leave it on a cliff hanger, at least finish it off with an episode of two, give some closure!
There needs to be another series, or at the very least actually end the show for those that watched it. Im sick of watching tv shows andthen the networks just stop them without actually tying up the story/characters.
very disapointing 🙁
Cant Believe it!!!! is it recorded?.. can I get it DVD?… I’m gutted!!!! bring it back plz!!!!
I can’t believe this, if y’all know much I love this show y all would not do this to me
Can anyone tell me if you know whether or not there’s going to be a season two?
It is very irresponsible to leave a show hanging like this one did. What’s wrong with those people who cancelled it? They are stupid, I think k!!!!!!!
Add my name to those who want this series back!
Maybe Taxi Brooklyn will come back for season 2 somewhere, because By Popular Demand”, the Part 2 episode of the Bridge on Hallmark Channel is being broadcast on March 20th, instead of waiting til December 2016 as it was originally scheduled for. Maybe if we all get our friends who enjoyed Taxi Brooklyn Season 1 Comment How Much They Want A Season 2, it will happen. Here’s hoping,!!!
