The new series on FX, Terriers, has been garnering some solid reviews. But, how did it do in the ratings? Should it continue for many years or be put to sleep…er, cancelled?
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
Per the overnight ratings, the Terriers premiere looks to be underwhelming at best. The debut attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 1.6 million total viewers. While cable ratings are typically smaller than those of the major networks, FX has seen much better.

To put it in perspective, in September 2008, Sons of Anarchy debuted to a 1.2 rating in the key demo and 2.53 million viewers. This past March, Justified’s premiere brought in a 1.5 demo rating and 4.15 million.
Even Nip/Tuck, which had sharply declined over the years, averaged a 0.8 in the demo and 1.7 million viewers for its final season — in the same Wednesday night timeslot.
So, Terriers has gotten off to a very poor start. FX is planning to pair repeats with new installments of Sons of Anarchy. It seems doubtful but maybe this will help. Right now, it doesn’t look like Terriers will survive past its first season of 13 episodes.
But, what do you think? Is Terriers worth watching or should it be cancelled? Cancel or keep it?

Keep it. It was nice that both characters have so many issues. The show was delightful watching and kept us guessing. We had good conversations afterwards. Please keep it on the air
Its the best on T V, I think its ranks right up there with Dexter. Please keep .
I liked the show, didnt know about it till it was half way through the season.
We Roger & Janet Hinton REALLY LIKE THE TERRIERS!!!!!!!!!! Why do you cancel good shows & keep stupid shows???????????? Please keep TERRIERS!! We don’t watch the NBC, ABC, CBS Shows because FX has better shows!
Please don’t cancel this show. I watched faithfully every week. This show did not get the promotion it should have. I’ve always been a fan of Donal Logue and loved Michael Raymond James from True Blood. I understand why this show was called Terriers but other people might not have. The name has to change and it needs a better time slot. How about before sons of anarchy or rescue me. It has not been given a chance to succeed. It is way better than It’s always sunny…. Please give this show another shot, or hire me at FX in… Read more »
My husband and I liked the show. It is a little off beat, but when you get to know the characters and their ongoing problems/issues, it is a fine show and shows how we really react to successes and hardships. The alcohol issue was dealt with in a realistic way in that the marriage broke up. Well done. Please keep it going.
It is a keeper…should have had a different name and more publicity before the premier..but great acting, believable characters….and a keep you guessing story line with plenty of angles that could be explored
This is a GREAT show. Just needs the publicity it deserves to get new viewers. First rate writing and acting.. PLEASE KEEP IT
Terriers is one of the best TV shows to hit the airwaves in the past few years. The writing and acting are tremendous and the shows are really entertaining, interesting and intelligent.
I hope it can withstand the onslaught of poor ratings for its first 13 episodes to soldier on into future seasons.
This show *will* grow and expand into a ratings favorite, if it is allowed to by FX.
The people who watch it, *love* it – it just needs to be given a chance to garner more viewers.
Agree with Trudy B re the marketing, but the show is one of the best — ranks with Justified and Memphis Beat (actually Terriers is superior). The scripts and acting are superb! Please renew this show!
Please keep Terriers on the air. What a g, reat show. Great writing, production, and cast. Give it more time. This show needs and deserves to be on television.
This is by far and away the best new show on TV!!
I discovered this show by accident, I have seen every episode, and it is in my list of favorites along with Justified. However, if it wasn’t for luck, I would have missed it. FX did it a disservice by abandoning it. The writing and acting are so far above what else is out there. The name probably hurts it for those who haven’t seen an episode or even a trailer. I wouldn’t have stopped to see it if I thought it was a dog show. If there is anything I can do to give it a push, I would be… Read more »
This is an excellent, excellent show that deserves at least a second season.
Keep this on the air, it is interesting and unusual, good TV–can’t predict the endings to episodes
