Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

NO WAY……..HOW CAN THEY CANCEL TERRIERS? PROBABLY
BECAUSE IT WAS SO WELL WRITTEN, ACTED, AND THE PLOTS WERE AWESOME.
TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE OTHER S___T ON TV NOW.
SOMEBODY……………PLEASE PICK THEM UP? TNT?
SOMEONE………………? PLEASE
Excellent show. Excellent writing. Excellent acting. Truly clever plots and dialogue. Stupid title. Even stupider decision. Shame on fx for pulling the plug so quickly on this quality production.
Very sad this show is canceled….maybe another network can pick it up! Love love love it and will truly miss it!
I (we) loved the show, but the lead advertising was a bit obscure as to the real content. It probably didn’t help that FX and Dish had an ego battle and all Dish folks lost the show when it was really getting legs… Another thought provoking show with great character development bites the dust. TV is moving toward 24 hour “reality” shows.
I am so upset. I loved this show. I watch very little TV because most of it it is a “mind dump”. This show was just pure fun to watch. FX is a poor fit for this show. Please sell it to AMC or TNT. There are so few entertaining shows to watch. I’m going to blow up my TVow. n
LOVED this show. VERY DISAPPOINTED and SURPRISED to hear of the cancellation. WOW!
We want terriers back. If we have to we will get a petition online or whatever it takes.
Very good show- how sad! I’m especially disappointed for Donal Logue who in my opinion carries the show and is an brilliant actor(he is really gifted with the ability to show almost palpable emotion and manages very well to play his very complicated and likeable though completely marginal character). I really like him because so much of what we see today is all form and no substance –all the actors and actresses are playboys and models and everyone is beautiful and perfect and the story lines are so convoluted and just not credible-to keep people watching and.. gag- finally we… Read more »

I thougt the writing and acting was excellent. The name of the show was
wrong. As a writer, I know this to be true.
I hope this show makes it back.
Thanks
There is a petition out to save Terriers!!! Please sign so we can save this great show!

I can’t win. All the shows I like get canceled. Life on Mars.. Rubicon..Nine.. now Terriers. At least I dowloaded the theme song.
Excellent series. Provocative, well acted w/unique plot lines. My favorite show this season! Hate to see it go & trust FX will reconsider. I’ve been telling all my friends about it.
Ditto above comment by Anonymous. I kept telling my friends about the show. Problem was that no one had heard of it. FX needs to advertise this show. Keep it going. It is one of the best hour long shows out there right now.
This was one of the most brilliant and hilarious shows ever on. The combination of the writing and how the characters delivered the lines was delicious. I waited every week for Wednesday at 10 and then watched it again at 11. I am really sorry to see this. It seems like a lot of other shows with much less depth and brilliance stay past the first season,.
I agree with everything that Jill stated above. The characters did an outstanding job. Each time the show ended, I couldn’t wait until the next Wednesday.
Please try it again but give notice to TV watchers that it will be airing. It is an outstanding production.
I can’t believe FX didn’t give this show a chance. Word of
mouth would have surely increased viewers in 2011. I am so
disappointed!! By the way, I think the name of the show was dumb
and misleading which may have been part of the problem. Whenever I
told others about the show, I felt the title turned them off. With
all the truly stupid stuff on TV, this show was like an oasis in a
desert!
I had reviewed all upcoming fall shows and watched Terriers because it sounded good. And It was GREAT! It held my interest every week. Just think the show needed to be advertised more to introduce it to more fans.
I will truly miss this show.
