Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

I cannot believe I will not see a second season of this show! There’s got to be another network that would pick this up. I personally think that being on FX was its downfall. I don’t think I will be following ANYTHING on this “channel”. I only began watching this from its debut because of Donal Logue and his past work. He’s one hell of an actor, whether it’s comedy or drama he’s working on. He made all of his fellow actors on this show better! PLEASE could some REAL Network pick up this great show!!!
Loved the show, really got hooked on it. Should have been promoted more like otherf new shows.
I am heartbroken. What a great show – outstanding writing, wonderful cast, terrific acting… exactly the right balance of comedy and drama…the chemistry between the two men was perfection.. I loved this show! How I wish that another network would pick it up… Any chance of that? I truly believe with the right promotion this series would attract a huge audience. It deserves another shot!
This is a great show which deserves a second season . Everything about it is unique and wonderful. The T.V. critics certainly tried to help by singing their praises of this show, but the promoters didn’t do their job. You are letting a jewel get away.
Strong plotting, well-drawn characters, smart but relevant dialogue. Perhaps it should have piggybacked after Sons of Anarchy to pick up a following? Not sure why it was scheduled all by its lonesome.
Please reconsider! This is a great show; great characters and storyline…different than anything else on tv…please NO more reality shows! Keep Terriers!
please bring this show back. It is the best show on tv.
Did you know that Time magazine voted “Terriers” one of the top 10 shows of last season? Perhaps if the show had been promoted better in the beginning, it would have found an audience sooner, but it is so good, that it deserves another season. I didn’t find it until mid-season and now I’m an avid fan. The review in the New Yorker turned me on to it.
So sad it was such a great show, so not fair, i really think that with better pub. it would have a fighting chance, BRING IT BACK please
Love the show. Very upset it is over. Stations never give shows a chance.
This was a really good show I can’t believe they would cancel it after just one season. I really looked forward to the new episodes every week.
Please have some other channel pick this show up!!!! It’s the best show ever!!
Can,t believe it,s canceled! Loved the characters…..damn, anybody go the cash to keep this show goin.
well Dish network got rid of FX right after the first couple of episodes. i had to watch online. not sure if that was part of the reason, but i did enjoy the show. i live in San Diego though and love watching my city on TV.
Please bring this show back. With a little more promotion, this show will find a bigger audience. One episode and you’re hooked on the storyline and the characters. Please reconsider FX. Thank you. M.Simms
