It appears that ABC intends for The Assets to be a mini-series with just eight episodes. But, if the show is a big hit in the ratings, can a second season be far behind? What will happen? Stay tuned!
The Assets revolves around the real life events of CIA counter-intelligence officers Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker) and Jeanne Vertefeuille (Harriet Walter) and their search for the most notorious traitor in US History, Aldrich Ames (Paul Rhys). Others in the cast include Stuart Milligan, Julian Ovenden, Christina Cole, and Ralph Brown.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Update: ABC has cancelledThe Assets after two episodes.
6/29 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Assets TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?
My wife and I both found the series to be excellent.
I loved the series and am so disappointed that it won’t be renewed. As for ratings, I wonder if the networks take into consideration that a lot of people are watching shows via Hulu.com now?
The episodes kept getting better. If the first episodes were as good as the last few, I think it would have had big ratings. Great great show.
Every time there is an intelligent show on tv it gets yanked off! I can remember when this was going on in the 80’s. We are going through another cold war at the present time. We need to pay attention! Hope ABC at least shows the remaining episodes They can get rid of the reality shows!
They cancelled this in lieu of Mistresses reruns, which is now performing significantly worse in both the demo and total audience than The Assets. This week, Mistresses could barely muster .95 million viewers; The Assets never even got close to being that low. What was ABC thinking?
