The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

I just received an e-mail from my sister saying she had heard that “The Bonnie Hunt Show” was cancelled. I had sent her an e-mail earlier to tell her that they were repeating the episode on this coming Tuesday that my daughter had gotten tickets and surprised me by taking me to her show because she knew how much I loved her and her show! We were fortunate enough to be picked to sit close up in her audience even though we were far back in line, and got a close up of just the two of us laughing and… Read more »
I am really sad and disappointed to hear the news.
I record this show every day and enjoy coming home to watch
this delightful show and, of course, Bonnie. She is such a caring and warm person
and has brought a positive and feel good atmosphere to her show.
It’s unfortunate that people would rather watch the negative crap the networks
feed us than this wonderfully fun show.
Isn’t there anything we can do to keep it on the air?
Another warm family show cancelled! For what another judge show or who’s your daddy trash shows. She had great guests and made you laugh with harmless wholesome humor. No Warner Bros. would rather have
shows that humiliate and degrade the family. We taped this show everyday and watched it while eating dinner. Even my 91 year old father looked forward to the show. Thanks.
I am totally disappointed! I love Bonnie Hunt! When I first saw her show, I thought what a refreshing bit of Spring. Bonnie’s show is so superior and fun to watch, much more so than the raving females on the other networks. She is so down-to-earth and has leaves me with such a “feel good” disposition. Her show is family oriented, warm, fuzzy, and fun! I am sad to see her go.
PLEASE DON’T CANCEL “THE BONNIE HUNT SHOW”, it is our family’s favorite time of the day. We sit down for dinner and watch when we get back from work and school!!!!!! If there are any petitions going on, please let us know! Thanks!!!!!!!!!
This is so sad. I LOVE THIS SHOW! Bonnie and gang remind me of our family get-togethers! Bonnie, you and your Mom are a hoot! What can we do to keep you on the air and in our homes? Good clean entertainment is almost non existant and BHS was such a beacon of hope for us. Sad, mad, bad. I really hate this news.
The Bonnie Hunt Show should have never been cancelled. I run into people everyday who thought the show was cancelled last year because they had NO knowledge of the time or network change. I had no knowledge of it either until I was talking about how good it was and someone told me it was changed. Advertise your sexual satisfaction improvement products all day and night long but a good, innocent humor, all around entertaining show gets nada. Bonnie Hunt ROCKS!! Take the screaming and rudeness and inability to understand half of the talk on ” The View” and a… Read more »
I love Bonnie’s show. I wish they would cancel the View – can’t stand those women talking at the same time – so irritating!
I love this show!!! My sisters and my aunt and my friends all watch it or tape it. I can’t believe it’s being cancelled. I hope another network will pick it up!!!!
I am soooo sad to hear this. I love this show. I’m in Philadelphia- a MAJOR market and season one aired at 2:00 AM!!!!! Then it was moved to 7:00 AM for Season 2. Who watches a talk show at 2 AM or 7 AM???? Everyone I have talked to about this show in my area never even knew about it!!!!!!!! Sixth largest city in America!!!! I don’t think it ever had a fair chance. Maybe it can find a home on a cable network.
Why does this not surprise me? My wife and I recently retired and, as many previous viewers have stated, we have found this show to be good, fun, clean and good-spirited. We really enjoy the homeyness of the show, and Bonnie herself. We enjoy her stories, her interviews, her interaction with her staff, and her Mom. Her guests sure seem to like her, too. In our West Coast time slot at 2:00 pm, there are soaps, Jerry Springer, children’s shows, and all kinds of religious programming and court tv shows. It’s a real wasteland of TV viewing for us at… Read more »
i love the bonnie hunt show. i think she is very very funny and a very very good interviewer.i will miss her a whole lot!!
I can not believe they would cancel the Bonnie Hunt Show…I watch it every day. This is the best show on in the morning. I used to watch the View, but it gets to confussing when everyone talks at once. The beginning of Bonnie’s show is the best when she talks about her own personal life….I hate to see it end….
This is just sad news. Bonnie made me smile every day and did not have any mean spiritedness that some shows have. Bonnie, I hope the powers- that- be rethink this decision. You will be so missed.
Bonnie is on at 9 am here. I watch it, or record it everyday. It’s sad, and it says a lot about our society when certain shows which lack class and substance are pushed upon us because of their shock factor.
