The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

Some administrator-I can’t locate the post now stated that Bonnie Hunt is a syndicated show and can be on multiple networks. Thanks for that reply. I was not aware of that situation. This is probably the reason there is so much confusion about her show. Whoever made that post-would you be able to elaborate, or give us an example of another daily show (not from a past series) having multiple affiliates, other than the Bonnie Hunt Daily Show?-we would appreciate.
This post mentions that it’s a syndicated show. Court shows like People’s Court, Judge Judy and Divorce Court are also syndicated and may be on different network-affiliated stations in different areas. I hope that helps.
Unbelievable. This show is great!! It is on weird stations at weird times! If it was on a network at a set time, it would go THRU THE ROOF!! Perhaps they should think of her as Tonight Show host….Jay sucks. Obviously, so does NBC.
I’m a 62-year-old male—retired musician. I love Bonnie Hunt; and like others, I just discovered Bonnie’s talk show around November 2009. I watch her every day. She’s the most likable celebrity on TV and in the movies. How can a network sell a show without advertising it? I ran across Bonnie’s show, while looking for episodes of “House,” which I now love, after ignoring it for years. Fox was not a network I thought of, generally, when channel surfing, until I grew to love “House” and the “Bonnie Hunt Show”. It took “Seinfeld,” like many great programs, a while to… Read more »
I am just sick that the powers that be can’t see a good thing when they see it, The Bonnie Hunt Show made my morning, such a great show, I watched it everyday, I am retired and didn’t really turn the T.v. on until late in the afternoon, then a friend told me about the show and I have watched it everyday since then, one reason it may not have been viewed by many was because it was not promoted very well, most of her viewers I believe found the show through word of mouth, Mr. Reiner last week said… Read more »
i think the station is so wrong to take bonnie off. other talk shows are so out of space about certain things, where bonnie is so down to earth. i will so miss her, the gang, and her precious mother. take regis off and keep her on. all they talk about are their trips and donald trump. i tape bonnie every day so if i’m busy, i can enjoy her later. sorry abc, you will lose a watcher of anything you put on in her place. jean.
This is the best talk show ever, please keep it on the air!!!! Bonnie is very entertaining……I never miss a show.
WHEN IL GET MY OWN TV SHOW I KNOW BONNIE WILL BE WITH ME EVERY DAY!! YOUR THE BEST BONNIE …PLEASE RETURN CIAOOOO… LOVE YOU BONNIE ….
I hate the hear that Bonnie and the crew are going off. She is the best talk show on TV. I watch both Live with Regis and Kelly and Bonnie Hunt. They are my favorite but if I had to rate them Bonnie would come first. This show makes me happy and I am so tired of those superficial reality shows. What can we do about this? I will be writing the channel and relaying my concerns.
It’s a shame that a “feel good” show that makes one feel as if you’re sitting around Bonnie’s kitchen table and having a chat is being cancelled. How can you not love someone who makes everyone smile on a daily basis. My sister in Illinois and I talk weekly about all the fun she has and we wind up laughing together about something she did or said on her show. What has happened to America not wanting to see a great show with a great host who seems to care so much. I’m disappointed!
I’m so sad. I just discovered the Bonnie Hunt show and it is by far my favorite talk show. She is so quick and funny. She is better than Ellen (who I also like to watch) and Oprah who I watch, but find very stressful at times. I wish they would keep it on.
I think Bonnie Hunt is much better than Ellen or Oprah. I have really enjoyed her shows. She is so down to earth and very funny. I am so sorry this show has been canceled.
It is totally crazy that they cancel the Bonnie Hunt show. It is as GOOD as ELLEN
and better than Oprah if you can’t see that then I am sorry for you at FOX.
I am from Portland, Or. and my Mother is from Forest Grove, Or. and we both look forward to watching Bonnie every weekday. I record it so that I don’t miss anything.

FOX?? I’m in PA and it is on ABC….I’m sure because it comes on-then Martha-then the View. Am I in the only area that carries it on ABC?? Maybe we should be writing to
them-pretend that them is underlined:)-can’t do that here.
@Eva Wisniewski: It’s a syndicated show. In many markets, it’s carried by NBC but could be on any of them.
I cannot believe they would take Bonnie off the air! Her show is the best talk show on television today. It is refreshing, fun and gives a bright lift to my day. Everyone on the show is funny and great. I am sadly disappointed in Fox, to cancel a show that is clean, entertaining and a breath of fresh air to television. Good luck Bonnie!! Remember they only take the goooooood shows off the air.
Love you and your staff!
THIS IS HORRIBLE! I DVR this show every day to watch in the evening instead of the depressing news….I found Bonnie’s show last year while sitting in the hospital with my dying husband. She is a ray of sunshine and so much better than the junk on TV. I will be part of any effort to bring her back
I can give you one reason that it might have been canceled. I didn’t even discover it until I saw it in another state at a different time slot in December. I am not an AM person. I am retired so when I’m having my coffee, Regis or the View is on. I just love the Bonnie Hunt show which starts at 9AM EST. I now tape it every day. I think it is great, especially for the baby boomer women. I am so upset that I won’t be able to start my day with a chuckle from Bonnie any… Read more »
