Sadly, it appears that The Bridge is out. FX has announced that they won’t be producing a third season of the gritty crime thriller.
The Bridge revolves around the Mexican and American police detectives and their efforts to protect those along the Texas–Chihuahua border. The cast of this crime drama includes Demián Bichir, Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Thomas M. Wright.
The show debuted in July of 2013 and the first season averaged 1.77 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The second season concluded earlier this month and the season was way down in the ratings. It fell 37% in viewers (to 1.11 million) and fell 44% in the demo (down to a 0.4 rating).
FX released just a short statement regarding the cancellation: “NETWORK STATEMENT: FX will not be moving forward with a third season of The Bridge.”
What do you think? Did you like The Bridge TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Season 1 >>>> Season 2. The actors were given crappy story lines that contradicted the first season. Cross was totally different in Season 2, her “condition” was gone. no explanation, just like gone. Ruiz with his visits to see his sons killer and Fausto were a joke, the god cop / bad cop that was played over and over was very unbelievable. The housing development with all that stuff and NO ONE ever there except the killers and drug runners and the houses were always pristine? Really? Every city I know has copper and pipe thieves. hose places would have… Read more »
What’s the cure for Aspergers? Getting renewed for a second season, that’s what! You’re right. I don’t think there was a single reference to her condition and nearly all of her personality glitches were gone. Curiously, the only glitch to remain was the insta-bedding of inappropriate sexual partners. I suppose we’re to believe that solving a gruesome series of murders made her psychologically better, even while dealing with her sister’s killer. (Ok, she did act odd within that story line.) I expect the network “geniuses” horned in on this one. “People will like the show better if you made her… Read more »
One more show out of my DVR. Sorry to see it go. Guess this means more reality shows and comedy shows with the fake sound track. Won’t be long and we’ll all be back to reading books again where we’ll have a choice of entertainment instead of the garbage the networks are putting out to us.
Hello again sports fans!!!
Two reasons this show was no great in its second season:
1) Original idea of murder on the bridge was long gone and it was too complicated going from US to Mexico and flashbacks etc.
2)Sonya’s innocence and semi-autistical performance and reactions were changed to suddenly just another cop.
All in all it was a “milking” of the original season and we DID NOT buy-in.
Maybe instead F/X ought to develop the Daughters of Anarchy with Sonja and Marco chasing down the women running drugs back and forth across the border…Ha!Ha!Ha!
This was the best show on. I loved it. I’m very sad that it’s off
I really liked The Bridge the first season. I honestly thought it was going to be an anthology series like that nasty FX horror series. They pretty much finished the entire story at the end of the season. And for those who recorded the first few shows DON’T DELETE THEM!! It ended perfectly and with it, my interest. The second season seemed like a messy afterthought. I don’t know where to begin describing the things they did wrong in the second season. In fact, I stopped watching it about halfway through. They SHOULD have made it like the horror mess… Read more »
oh my, am I a jinx or what?! I’m batting a thousand right now, almost every show that I’ve watched the last two years have been cancelled. oh well, start life anew so that the circle will be unbroken.
I stopped watching 3 episodes into the 2nd season. I think I will delete the rest of the season off my DVR, now that I have learned the fate of the show. Season one was great, but season two was a train wreck. The talent level of the actors was really wasted in season two.
Another good show goes down the tube. I’m not surprised but I am sorry about the cancellation. Just one more reason for watching premium cable.
I liked watching the bridge I am disappointed it is not going to be on anymore!
No doubt the dweebs who program FX will come up with some “reality show” where everyone has rehearsed their lines and squabbles over and over and over again. Maybe stage this reality show along the Rio Grande River?
Well, there you go another fine TV Drama hits the road…Why, put something out there then cancell it, just goes to show that those bozos doing the programming have their heads up their (where the sun never shines)!
wow can’t believe they cancelled such a great show ,I hate this news
I really enjoyed this show! I was looking forward to another season. Was 😉
what a bummer. this was my favorite show. i really loved every character on here. they were all so swell written. no matter how bad they were there was something you liked about all of them because for the most part no matter how rotten someone is there is something good about them and it is just how they choose to go with life and i think this show had that. i won’t be watching any shows with stupid teenagers and sex crazed couples talking loudly about nothing which means i guesss i won’t be watching many of the new… Read more »
I stopped watching before the end of the 1st season. The cast, especially Damien Bichir, was great. But the story just wasn’t compelling.
