Sadly, it appears that The Bridge is out. FX has announced that they won’t be producing a third season of the gritty crime thriller.
The Bridge revolves around the Mexican and American police detectives and their efforts to protect those along the Texas–Chihuahua border. The cast of this crime drama includes Demián Bichir, Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Thomas M. Wright.
The show debuted in July of 2013 and the first season averaged 1.77 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The second season concluded earlier this month and the season was way down in the ratings. It fell 37% in viewers (to 1.11 million) and fell 44% in the demo (down to a 0.4 rating).
FX released just a short statement regarding the cancellation: “NETWORK STATEMENT: FX will not be moving forward with a third season of The Bridge.”
What do you think? Did you like The Bridge TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I loved!!! the show, so different from any other show on TV these day. I kept looking to see if it was coming back on soon, and just realized they cancelled it. So disappointed 🙁
It was one of my favs can’t believe it was canceled, with all the reality TV garbage out there they cancelled this ….
I’m so disapointed that “The Bridge” won’t be on any longer. I loved that show.
THIS IS a poor decision. The. Show had great acting and the writing was superb.
I loved The Bridge. It was a refreshing series, away from mindless sitcoms and reality shows, that those with a low I.Q. seem to flock too.
It was great show…I’m bummed really good writing & storyline.
It was one of my favorite shows. I was a little surprised at the lower ratings, but maybe it was on the wrong night. The acting and story lines were excellent. I hope they reconsider and bring the show back.
I just started on Friday 11/20#15 to watch this series I’ve had on my DVR and I live the show. I have like 10 more shows to go and decided to Google and see if there’s gonna be a 3rd season and sadly there’s not. I agree with some of the other viewer it shows the reality of life between Juarez and El Paso. Just love this show its seem like it so real. Hopefully they will reconsider and bring it back.
Why? It was a good show, interesting. Good plots and twists,
Raw,
It was crap. I only watched one episode.
The Danish-Swedish original – with subtitles is absolutely excellent.
I went and saw the movie Sicario and was tense the whole time. It was exactly like this series but more gritty. I wish FX had renewed this series. I believe it really shows what goes on regarding the drug trade between the US and Mexico but I also realize it probably made a bunch of politico’s very upset with the realism of the show. Did not portray either country as having a handle on what’s really going on. I would hate to be living in Juarez Mexico and I feel very sorry for all the residents there and how… Read more »
I googled how many people have died by the wars with the cartels in Juarez; Since 2006-2012 60,000 have died because of the ruthlessness of the drug dealings. That’s more than life loss during the war in Vietnam, and that’s just next door to our country. I’m sorry but that’s not even raising a blip on our radar, now that’s scary. I read a story in Texas Monthly magazine, it was an interview with a “hitman”, he was 15 years old, living in Laredo Tx. He was recruited by the cartel, they set him up in a huge house, gave… Read more »
LOVED THIS SHOW. FX SCREWED UP.
I really enjoyed The Bridge and wish you had continued it.
Go see the movie “Sicario”, it’s the closest you’ll get to getting your fix of the Bridge times 100….it has all the familiar settings of the Mexican bordertown and action plus some. I’m sure FX caught some flack from the PC police about the series, because it showed how corupt the Mexican government is and stepped on some toes. I think it was well done, great charactors, excellent story line…
I watched the show and really liked it. I am very sorry to hear that it was cancelled. I wonder if it was in a difficult time slot and that is why the ratings were so low ?
I wish FX would re-consider a Season 3 for this show.
