Last night The CW premiered their newest drama series, The Carrie Diaries — the network’s prequel to Sex and the City. It stars AnnaSophia Robb, Stefania Owen, Ellen Wong, Katie Findlay, Chloe Bridges, Austin Butler, Brendan Dooling, Freema Agyeman, and Matt Letscher.
How did the new show perform in the ratings? The Carrie Diaries debuted to a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.6 million total viewers. This was hardly an impressive first outing for the drama.
These ratings were well below this season’s first episodes of The Vampire Diaries, Beauty and the Beast, and Arrow. It was a bit better than Emily Owens, MD — a show that’s been cancelled — so that’s not saying much.
It’s certainly not an out-of-the-gate hit but it’s not a flop either. Will The Carrie Diaries survive to see a second season or will it be cancelled? We’ll have to wait and see what happens as the season progresses.
What do you think? Did you watch the premiere — on “live” TV, DVR, on-demand or online? If so, will you watch again?
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!! PLEASE! ASFKAJIFJAIUHIU :((((
Please, CW, give “The Carrie Diaries” a fair chance to gain an audience! I watched the premiere and loved it! DO NOT cancel this show and replace it with any of that stupid “reality” crap. “The Carrie Diaries” IS reality. The reality if a young woman who is trying to find her way in the world. I’m excited to get to see how she accomplishes her goals. Keep it on!!!
Please do not cancel this show! Give it 1 season! I would love to see how Carrie got her start in the life and city. I was a huge fan of the Sex and the City series and it’s a bit nostalgic to hear Carrie’s young voice again as she talks to herself. I think the reason why you are not getting good ratings is because the people that watch shows on the CW were only in preschool when Sex and The City came out. Keep it for awhile longer for the 1.6 million who appreciated the original series.
