If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
ARE YOU SERIOUS, this is an AWESOME show. It seems that good shows they cancel the stupid shows they keep. There are not many good shows on these days. It is a shame to get rid of all the good ones and keep the brain cell killing shows.
i think they should have finished the season then made the announcement.
I thought the Code was well acted, interesting, and thought provoking. It is certainly better then Magnum PI which is a total waist of the airways. It’s always good to see Dana Delany who I fell has always been a very good but under rated actor. The writing was solid and the character relation ships are solid and interesting. I say give it a chance.
Liked this show a lot and want it to stay on . Please give it a chance .
I truly like the code and was disappointed that it wasn’t on last night. Although I like magnum p.i. Didn’t watch the rerun but shut the t v off . I’ll watch the code in July .
I hope The Code isn’t cancelled. I really enjoy it. It reminds me of The JAG show. Please give the show a chance.
it was announced so the show is over sorry i kind of liked it.
I love the show but I was worried from the start that it was aimed at the more intelligent among us! It would catch on eventually but it’s sad that it won’t be given time.
The Code is a great show, we love it!!! Give it a chance!!!
I looked forward to the show. So disappointed that it may be cancelled. It gives insight into how the military polices itself. That is important for all of us to understand. We pay for it.
If you are going to cancel “The Code” at least show the final episodes so those of us who have been watching and enjoying the program can at least see them. It is disappointing to drop a show in midstream. I did like watching the program but it seems to follow a CBS pattern like other programs – Code Black, etc.
I really enjoy the program. It’s like a combination of SEAL Team and JAG.
I had this show on our DVR (I travel a lot for work) and just got caught up last night. Saw the previews for the next show and was looking forward to it. Cannot believe CBS pulled the show before the season was even done. They should at least provide the last three shows aon CBS on demand immediately! It seems that this is another series that I and my wife likes, a lot!!, but the rest of our fellow Americans do not. So sad. I hate getting into a TV series that gets low ratings and seeing a good… Read more »
I enjoy watching the well written show. My son is a Captain in the Marine Corps reserve in San Diego and my wife and I were in Quantico to see him get commissioned in 2013. I think of him when ever I see the show. The Marine Corps helped save our country from the bad actors of the world. It’s interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes, like combat duty for lawyers who you wouldn’t think would have to endure a gun fight in a far away and hostile land just to prove the guild or innocence of… Read more »
