If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
We look forward to watching The Code each week. We think it is a great show. Please continue to air it.
I like the show and think it’s getting better with each episode. please keep it.
I think the folks planning the shows for CBS are child-like. They seem to like all the stupid comedies over and over, The biggest show they have that honors the military is Seal Team, and other than that they have many shoot-em-up series, except for Secretary of State, and no one with half a brain seems to realize that the Secretary of State does not overrule the President EVER, which this show promotes. Stupid. The Code is real life situations where men and women in the military use their legal skills to fight for the rights of other military members… Read more »
Please dont’t cancel The Code. My husband and I think its a great show. You should give it a chance.
We watched the Code every week. It was becoming one of our favorite shows. But like everything else today, if it’s not an instant hit, jerk it off the air.
Please don’t cancel this show. I love it. Instead put it on the fall line up on the same night as Seal Team. That would be a great night of TV.
Waited for the show on June 10th. Disappointed that CBS pulled the show from the schedule. A lot of interesting story lines to follow. You should consider bringing it back.
Please consider keeping the series of The Code. Acting, characters and story line are interesting and I enjoy watching. Don’t lose me CBS.
Please don’t cancel The Code. You need to give it more of a chance. We watch it like so many shows on demand.
We watched The Code faithfully in our house. We thought that the tension between prosecutors and defense attorney was realistic and interesting. (JAG defense and JAG Prosecution). The continuing story line of the Colonel (Dana Delaney) and her son depicted the conflict between her professional duty and wanting to protect your loved one from harm no matter what. Each week the drama taking place was original yet believable given what we see in the news every day. I can’t believe that it was not there when I went to turn it on tonight! I googled it to see what happened… Read more »
The Code is a very good show. I cannot stand another reality show. I do not feel like watching reruns all the time. I usually watch the shows on CBS so now it seems that they are all shows I have already seen. The only cure for this is more Netflix, which is probably why the show has low ratings.
I really liked The Code and the story lines were very interesting and up to date. I would like to see the rest of the series and season 2 as well. It is one of the best new series of the summer. Don’t know what you are thinking to cancel it.
I love the show. Please don’t cancel it. It covers so much in the story line, from beginning to end.
I think you should at least do more than a hand full of shows and give some warning as to whats going on. And, by the way, there’s more than just one age demographic.
Please have a second season of the CODE
