If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
I have DVR The Code since it began. I just recently began watching it. I love the show!! It is one of my new favorites!! Please don’t cancel it!! My mother also watches the show! We love it! Great clean family drama!!
I love this show, it’s a different type of show and is actually pretty good writing. Some corny acting but still a good show. I get annoyed by the skinny white girl heroism. But overall a good show.
I love this show. One of my favorites on tv
I love The Code. Great stories and cast. Different from so many other shows. Please give it a chance, and put it on at a good time. Dada Delaney is great.
Great show do not cancel the show.Fist show in along time me and my wife watch together
Great show. Please don’t cancel it
I watch the show on cbs all access and have been maintaining my membership for that show. If it’s cancelled I’m cancelling till Trek comes back like I usually do. I kept the subscription for The Code.
Love this show! Please please air them all. Great cast and stories.
I really liked The Code and kept looking for it to be on. I hope you give it another chance before cancelling it.
Yes I like the show and I was looking forward to a second season. It wouldn’t hurt to up your game a little, but I hope it returns.
They should renew it but fix the obvious issues with Marine protocol. I like the drama and storylines and look forward to the weekly episodes.
If they don’t make some very significant changes it will be better off cancelled. First they need to hire a competent Marine technical advisor and give them the authority to correct the many mistakes that would be obvious to any Marine.
While non-citizens may enlist in the US military they are barred from becoming commissioned or warrant officers until they are citizens. There were too many uniform, and custom & curtesy screw ups to even list here.
Find some actors who actually look like Marines. The current Barbie/Ken actors are just silly.
I’m retired US Army and I saw all the mistakes. Hard to watch.
Yes I like the show and yes I would watch a second season. For some reason dramas are no longer the thing and the stations all want reality TV which is just sad.
You are exactly right!!!! They don’t give dramas a half a chance but reality tv goes on and on and on and on……..
Reality programming is far less expensive to produce. Don’t have to pay the multi-million dollar contracts of the actors who are, or become, big “stars!” 🙂 However, I don’t understand how reality shows draw big sponsors. The only reality shows I ever watch are “The Voice,” and football. 🙂
About time they pulled this half hearted attempt to reboot “JAG”. Acting was not bad, storylines were okay but all that inconsistant military protocol and uniform mistakes was too much to bear.
Maybe for military personnel, but not so much for those of us who are ignorant about military protocol and uniforms! 🙂 Those mistakes are lost on us–the story is always just as good!
I enjoyed this show as well and agree it was put in a bad time slot. If CBS cancels it I would love to see it picked up by another network. JAG was cancelled and picked up by CBS and it continued on for many more seasons. Good shows get cancelled way too often.
