If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
This show has so much potential. The actors are terrific, and have great credentials. I think Abe and Lee belong together, and I believe the plot is drifting in that direction! Let it bloom!!
I like the CODE keep it
Keep the CODE it is a good show with alot of potential.
I really like the code so have it set up to tape whenever it should come on. It puts a different spin on court shows because it is showing the red tape required by the military in order to get justice. I really like the way the prosecution and defense will often work together for the best possible outcome.
Do not cancel the Code. It’s a great show. I love the characters and look forward to knowing more about them
Do not cancel the Code. It’s a great show. I enjoy the characters and want to see more of them.
Keep the code just because ppl dont watch it live dosent mean they dont record it
One of the best new shows on TV. It would be a shame if it isn’t given a chance. Bring it back, CBS!
The Code is a wonderful show with great storylines and characters! My husband and I both enjoy watching every episode. Please keep The Code!!!!
good show–good cast–great story lines–THIS SHOW IS A KEEPER!!!!
It would be a shame to pull this show as it has gotten better and developed more of an an emotional hook with its audience. I, for one, would miss seeing it have the chance to mature.
Every time I see this show, as much as I enjoy it, I really miss Harm and the rest of the crew at #JAG. Which is still owned by CBS and is STILL in many of current shows’ universes. IF this show is cancellated, keep an eye out….Already have had a rather interesting and long pilot like arc on NCIS LA………
I have really gotten into this show. I hope the network decides to keep it on.
Truth be told, I’ve been watching The Code because a friend is in at least one episode.
Please don’t cancel this show. I like it and haven’t missed an episode yet. Maybe it just needs a different time slot since so many millennial like to watch all those “reality” shows which it’s competing with on Monday nights!
