If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
I love The Code! Please, CBS, give it a chance. I’m not in the 18-49 demographic. I’m past it. Maybe if this show had been shown beginning in the fall, its ratings would have been better. Put it in a line up with SEAL Team and SWAT.
I like the CBS Series The Code, its actors and stories. Its stories probably tell some ‘real life’
things that do go on in the services(no disrespect to any of them, is meant by saying this).
Sometimes a series needs that second chance for the viewers to pick up on the show. Maybe
a different day or time slot. Don’t cancel the show just yet, despite its ratings.
I like the show. The actors are very good. Please don’t cancel the show because of the Nielson ratings. I’m 70 years old and my brother that watches the show who is 61 years old enjoys the show Nielson ratings only take up to 49 years old what about other viewers.
My wife and I watch this wonderful show each week and would be heartbroken if it was cancelled. Please bring back for a second season.
I like this show. It is interesting and it is not violent with a lot of swearing in the show. I agree with others its a good show and worth watching
I tape it and watch it. It’s entertaining and better than most of the drivel and reality garbage on TV even if it’s not Columbia or Hill Street Blues
Sometimes you need to give a new show a moment to really get going. I think the show has gotten better and better and I’m hoping The Code returns for a second season.
I’m a retired Marine and my wife and I think that the show is hilarious. Some of the show is realistic and some is far fetched. The bottom line is that we find it entertaining.
Semper Fi,

I love the show also!! I’m watching on my All Access account! Why do they cancel good shows??? I hope streaming watches have stats! Great cast and great acting!!
We liked the Code and. Would watch t if its renewed. Nice to have a non violent interesting series. Please dont cancel.
My husband was in the military. We both enjoy the show & would watch a second season. It’s decent & thought provoking. So much mindless stuff on TV filled with crude language, sex & sick humor. Since the ratings are low it shows that audiences are ok with the stuff mentioned above. Hard to find really good shows anymore. Keep the Code on, please.
Really like this show. Great writing and acting. Interesting plots. Who wants another stupid comedy?!!
As usual shows that are descent get pulled. Keep it on! Not everyone enjoys sick humor, sex, or language.
The habit of cancelling shows that display some thought and people connections has gone on for a long time. I’m sorry to see this go!
love this show. it has so much potential. i hope they give it more time
