Of all the new shows this season, it seems like NBC has the highest hopes for The Event. How did the new show do in the ratings? Will it be the next Lost or the next FlashForward?
The Event follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), a young man who’s investigating the mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend. He slowly begins to uncover the biggest cover-up in the history of the United States. Others in the cast include Sarah Roemer, Laura Innes, Ian Anthony Dale, Scott Patterson, Clifton Collins Jr., Taylor Cole, Lisa Vidal, Bill Smitrovich, Zeljko Ivanek, and Blair Underwood.
The first episode attracted an average 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.9 million total viewers. It was in third place in both areas, though it did tie CBS’ Mike & Molly for second place in the demo in the second half hour.

This was a big improvement over last season’s Heroes premiere and built on the Chuck lead-in by 80%. That’s impressive. What’s more, viewership grew as the hour progressed, meaning that people stuck with it and new people even joined in midway.
While this performance is positive, it’s not as big a start as the network wanted. The real test will be to see how well The Event holds up over the next few weeks. AS you may remember, ABC’s FlashForward started with very healthy numbers but viewership dwindled each week and it was ultimately cancelled after one season.
But, what do you think? Do you like The Event? Is it confusing or intriguing? Will you keep watching or should it be cancelled?

Please reconsider putting it back on the air. This was by far one of the best miniseries I’ve seen in a long time! It’s like a burrito full of scyfi-esh suspense, with a squirt of twisted adventure and realism.
The Event was most likely canceled because it resembled the truth a bit too closely. Look at the following site and read the entire interview and the plot line of the Event begins to surface.

The Event is an awesome TV series! I personally think it should have been a series of movies like The Matrix and a few other favorites. The Event is top of the line material.
It was one of the first show’s worth watching. I also would re-think putting it back on the air.
The Event is a good show. It shoukd be given a chance to prove it is worth the investment. I remember a show that was cancelled too early, and it became one of the biggest programs in history. Remember Star Treck. If the managers cancel this show, I believe they will regret it, especially it is picked by another network.
The event is by far the best mind numbing, character twisting syfy program on British TV at the moment. Ever since lost left our screen’s there has been a large dark void and your program has more than adequately filled that space. Give the writes a huge pat on the back.
Can’t wait for the second series to start, hopefully the first episode of S2 will be as mind blowing as the whole of S1. Keep up the excellent work and keep us all intrigued with the twists and turns.

THE EVENT IS BY FAR THE BEST SHOW ON NBC.
IT WAS COMPLICATED TO FOLLOW IN THE EARLY BEGINNINGS. BUT WOW! IT IS GREAT.
NBC…LET ME JOIN THOUSANDS OF OTHER VIEWERS IN SAYING PLEASE RECONSIDER.
