Despite what you might have read elsewhere, the forgotten has not been officially cancelled. The show may actually return with new episodes this season. But, don’t get too excited just yet.
ABC’s the forgotten details the cases taken on by a group of talented civilians once the police can’t go any further. The series features the talents of Slater, Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Bob Stephenson, Rochelle Aytes, Anthony Carrigan, Judith Hoag, Lily Rains, and Elisha Cuthbert.
ABC recently did some reshuffling of their primetime schedule and decided to replace the March 16th and 23rd episodes of the forgotten. It was reported that the network was also calling the March 9th episode, the “season finale.”
An ABC representative has confirmed to us that that’s not the case. He tells us that the network didn’t promote this week’s episode as the season finale and may still air the remaining two installments sometime in the next several months.
The episode that aired this week, “Donovan Doe,” was originally scheduled to run on March 23rd and finish the season. That makes sense since an ongoing storyline, the fate of Alex’s long-missing daughter, was resolved in a shocking twist. The episode works well as a season finale and very likely will have to serve as the series finale as well. As we’ve discussed before, it’s a longshot at best that the forgotten will be renewed for a second season because of low ratings.
If by chance it is renewed, there’s a good chance that Cuthbert won’t be part of it. The actress has been signed for a lead role on a new comedy pilot for ABC. Happy Endings revolves around a bride (Cuthbert) and a groom who break up at the altar and try to work out how to stay friends with their four compadres.
What do you think? Are you happy that ABC at least aired the season (likely series) finale? Do you think they’ll air the remaining two episodes?

The Forgotten is a great show, with excellent writing and storylines. Why is it these days, all the good shows across all the networks are being canned? I am tired of all the reality shows, and look forward to the dramas, especially this one. I am a big fan of Christian, and I want to see him succeed in television. ABC give this show another chance please!
racine, wi
I love this show too many times they leave shows on that are boring and rehashed. But this show is different we see the human side of the Lost and Forgotten. As a fan of the show and of Christen Slater I thought finally ABC knows a good show when they see one and a great cast but I guess they are still stuck with the same boring shows as before “LOST” so over it. Come on ABC you can do so much better. I do hope that Christen Slater does find a Series that does well so fans can… Read more »
Can’t believe this show is being cancelled. I am not one of the fans of Dancing with the Stars and I love this show. All the shows that are produced by Jerry seem to be a hit – why not this one. Have you given it enough time to progress. Do we really need another go no where comedy – I’d rather see a suspense/drama verses a comedy. Please don’t take it off it is right up there with Ghost Whispers and Medium.
Please don’t cancel “Forgotten”. Its a great show with a great premise. We love it and watch it faithfully. It’s different and good.
Do Not Cancel The Forgotten! I love this show! It deserves another shot!
I think this is a fantastic show. I watched it from day 1 and it jelled very quickly and an outstanding cast blended together with Christian Slater to put out a very compelling and unique show. This is as good as it gets, which is probably why they will cancel it !!! Maybe CSI and other “Typical Police Dramas” are more popular, but this show is better and has a unique foundation of a “Who Done It” than I have ever seen. Canceling this show would be a waste with all the lesser quality shows on T.V. now. Don’t blow… Read more »
I guess I will be turnimg my tv t0 another channel. ABC has taken ever show I have enjoyed watching.First Eastwick now The Forgotten and Betty. Please keep this show and bring Eastwick back.
I really hope ABC will bring The Forgotten back next season. I enjoy the show very much and have recommended it to my friends and family & they have all liked it too. It seems that the networks are notorious for putting out a new show, bouncing it all around so no one ever knows exactly when it’s on, and then saying the ratings are poor and canceling it before it has even had any real opportunity to catch on with the public. Don’t blame the shows, blame the network’s poor scheduling and lack of promotion for certain shows. The… Read more »
As soon as Alex found Lucy my heart sank. This may not be the best, or most plausible, show on the air, but it is very enertaining. The stories are interesting and the character interaction is excellent. If the decisionmakers at ABC are smart, they’ll not cancel The Forgotten!
I think that ‘The Forgotten’ is an amazing shop. I like all of the actors involved. They all have different personalities, but come together to get the job done. It just makes it even more amazing that there really is a group out there that gives of their personnal time to do this kind of thing. I like the story line and I would like to see what will happen after ‘Alex’ found ‘Lucy’ and how he continues on now that he has gotten his daughter back. I hope this week wasn’t the final episode and that there will be… Read more »
I hope they renew “Forgotten”. One of the best shows and you don’t have to worry about profanity and nudity.
This show isnt bad but if the choice is between this one and Cold Case, I pick Cold Case every time. It’s lame compared to the greatest tv show since Cagney & Lacey.
Really good concept, but I saw the writing on the wall with this last episode. The writing is weak, with too many things wrapping up too quickly and happily, and not a lot of sophistication in the story lines. Plus all the characters are young, no “aged wisdom” in the bunch, etc. There just wasn’t enough though put into drawing the show out before they started producing it. It’s too bad, because this will be the second quickly-failed series in as many years for Slater, and he deserves better.
I was so thrilled to see this article posted on the website. Tonight I finally had the chance to watch the episode with the twist about Lucy . . . work week is hard and DVR is a girl’s best friend. The ending seemed so final and it worried me that my new fav show might be done with. Here’s hoping there are many seasons to come — forget CSI and L&O, the Forgotten is where the good crime show watching audience should be!
THE FORGOTTEN IS THE BEST TV SHOW AND I HOPE IT IS RENEWED. PLEASE RENEW IT!!!!
