After a disappointing run, ABC has decided to prematurely end the forgotten’s freshman season. Is the Christian Slater TV show being cancelled?
Airing on ABC, the forgotten follows a group of talented civilians who work together to find missing persons once the police have reached a dead end. The series features the talents of Slater, Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Bob Stephenson, Rochelle Aytes, Anthony Carrigan, Judith Hoag, and Lily Rains.
The show debuted on September 22nd and attracted a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.54 million viewers. It lost a large percentage of its lead-in and 12% tuned out before the episode was over. The second installment of the forgotten fell significantly and the rest of the season has been averaging just a 1.7 rating 6.49 million viewers.
Last week, ABC announced that they were preempting the March 16th installment of the forgotten in favor of a FlashForward recap show. Now, they’re pulling the March 23rd episode as well. Next week’s installment, “Donovan Doe,” is the episode that was originally scheduled for the 23rd and may well wrap up the season.
Considering the poor ratings, the series is very likely to be cancelled and won’t be back for season two. It also doesn’t seem likely that they’ll get around to airing the remaining two episodes anytime soon, if at all.
What do you think? Should ABC find a way to air the remaining two episodes? Should the series be cancelled? Where did the forgotten go wrong?

i think that this show is completly origanl and there are no others like it. i looked forward to this show every week . Sometimes a new show has so much competition that it is slow to catch on, but if it is kept going it h as a solid loyal group of viewers such as my self and 6 million other people! They should keep it, if over 6 million people is not good enuf for the bimbos working at the sations they need to open there eyes to how many more may enjoy it once it getts so… Read more »
I am very disappointed that this show was cancelled. I looked forward to watching every week, and enjoyed the plots. Christian Slater was great. So sad to see it gone.
My family is disappointed that The Forgotten is cancelled. My son, who is 12, looked forward to watching it every week with me. It was a good drama, good stories, and enough going on in every episode to keep our interest.
This is way ABC is behind the other networks, they don’t give shows a chance. Maybe CBS will pick it up like other network cast-offs and make it a success.
I’m so ticked that The Forgotten got canceled. I love the show and am really teed off. They always cancel good shows and leave other crap shows on.
I really liked the show, i think these network exec’s get nervous too quick. It takes time for people to warm up to shows. I didn’t start watching true blood till mid-season 2, and look how great that show turned out to be. Moonlight was canceled after the first season, look how popular Stphanie Meyer made Vampires. They should give it time. It really is a great show, Christian Slater was awesome so was the rest of the cast.
I am very disappointed that this show is canceled. This is one of the more higher end production shows and its already being pulled? I always have it on DVR and make sure I don’t miss and episode…..what a shame!
I loved the show me and my husband dvr ‘d every episode I am very sad that is not going to be on It is rare that there is anything good and clean and entertining on tv . I am really disapointed
FORGOTTEN was one of my favorite shows. IS. sure hope that word goes for the series. It was almost like COLD CASE, but BETTER. Had to keep looking at tv guide to find when it was on.
I think part of the problem was that it was up against “The Good Wife” on CBS, which although a good show, the type and premise is totally different. “The Forgotten was never given a chance, and when they started showing previews of “Happy Town,” I never saw anything intriguing even before it was shown.
I loved the show and looked forward to it each week. I don’t really like other csi type shows but this one I really enjoyed. It’s a real shame
I cannot believe you would take off a refreshing show that lets people know of different ways to find the lost . It gives hope for the family of the forgotten.
I loved the Forgotten, I don’t get what is going on. All the good shows get canceled. Now ABC has “Happy Town”. Which isn’t all that good. Its a murder mystery. It will end eventually when they find the murder. I loved, ugly betty, life on mars, pushing daisies, my worse enemy, eastwick. I don’t like flash forward. And many others. Ugh its frustrating trying to find a show to stay with!
I loved the show and looked forward to seeing it each week. I have been waiting for it to return. I love Christian Slater! Sometimes a new show has so much competition that it is slow to catch on, but if it is kept going it will gain a solid loyal group of viewers. It fits in with “Castle” and other shows now on. My vote is to keep it on!!!
I looked forward to this show every week.
I love Christian Slater! There has never been a concept like this on TV and thought it was brilliant. I agree that you cancel shows that should be still on like “Life on Mars” and
now “The Forgotten”. All of us that invested time in this series should see the last two episodes but better yet give it another chance at another time slot!
I Agee life on mars was equally good
