Last May, fans of The CW’s sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
Even before the show was cancelled by the CW, there was talk about the possibility of Black Entertainment Television (BET) picking up the show for a fourth year. The cable-channel has been playing the sitcom repeats and the show fits in with their other programming.
In July, Mowry told TV Guide, “[BET chairman and CEO] Debra Lee is trying everything and anything to make this happen. The Game gets higher ratings than BET’s original programming, and we’ve heard there would be a huge marketing campaign. So I personally believe the show would be taken to another level.”

Unfortunately, there’s been little word of any real progress since then. Last week, rumors started circulating that a deal had been struck between BET and the show’s studio, CBS Television. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.
Last night, Mowry put the rumors to rest. Via her Twitter account, she wrote, “I am so sorry to tell you this, this whole THE GAME thing getting picked up is NOT true! After talking to agents lawyers etc it is not true.” A deal may still happen but, for the moment, there isn’t one.
When or if a new deal is made, it remains to be seen how it would work. The contracts for the cast and creatives have lapsed so new ones would have to be negotiated. Because BET has less money to spend, they’d likely have to take pay cuts.
On top of that, some of those involved with the show have also moved on to other projects and may not be available. Hall is working on CBS’ new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, Mowry has several projects in the works, and Akil is part of ABC’s new Cougar Town comedy with Courteney Cox Arquette.

I can’t believe all these shows that just go off the air. Very sedemly do we get great black shows that come on the air and the minute we get into it, they snatch it off the air. I see sooooo many crapy shows that get put on the air that usually dont even have a meaning. Bring The Game back, protest your other favorite shows and blog to bring The Game back. We love it!
I love THE GAME i watch it everyday…everyday!…its always so exciting to see it each day…it brings me and that special someone together…THE GAME is my fav…please,please,please,bring it back BET..its worth whatever you have to do….just bring it back for a forth,fifth,maybe even a sixth season…my prayers are with the whole THE GAME cast…Be Blessed.

OMG! I love The Game. I just finished watching the all day marathon that was on today. I love the show as well as all the characters. I am keeping my fingers crossed that BET decides to pick up the show for a fourth season because I’m hooked.
I am all for “The Game” coming back to the TV!!! We need to start a website where people can register their votes and have the stations tune in to see what we (The Demand) is saying so they can “supply” the show for us. It’s all about supply and demand. If we demand it!!!… someone will have to supply it.
Please bring back The Game!! There is nothing even close to it on any network and Iam sooo tired of the reality shows.

BET can’t go wrong with a 4th season of The Game!
A fourth season of The Game is definitely worth it. This what fans have asking for. And I think ratings could really increase if BET aired the show. Now if everyone didn’t return that may just be the end of the show; simply put viewers fell in love with these characters it’ll be hard for them to embrace new ones especially if they’re not worked in.
PLEASE!!! Bring back the show I watch all the repeats and need to see something new everyone I know loves the show the Game is a down to earth entertaning show.I know I t will get better ratings if put on BET everybody watches this channel this is truly the best show ever HANDS down its so believeable great actorsand actress Love it love it love it
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this show I just watched the marathon twice today. My tv has barely been off of bet to day. I really enjoy watching shows with african -americans in positive roles other than drug dealers, crackheads, gang bangers, robbers or killers. I really watching Melanie and derwin together. They have so much love for each other even though they are going through a lot. I hope BET will pick this show up. We need more shows like this.
I absolutely love The Game. it really really really needs to be picked up for a fourth season. I’ve got to find out what happens between Jason and Kelly and Tasha Mac and Rik Fox. Keep this show going!!!!!
