The Gifted TV show won’t be back for a third season on FOX. The network cancelled the X-Men universe drama two months after its season two finale. Reportedly, there exists some chance that the Marvel series could return someday to a Disney-owned outlet, but nothing is currently in the works.
A FOX superhero drama, The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Skyler Samuels, and Grace Byers. Based on a Marvel Comics alternate timeline, the show follows two ordinary parents with mutant children who go on the run from the government and join an underground community of mutants.
The Gifted: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of The Gifted on FOX averaged a 0.59 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.95 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 41% and 41%, respectively. In terms of its demo numbers, it ranked 15th out of the 16 scripted FOX TV shows we’re tracking. When sorted by total audience it dropped to last place, just behind the comedy, Rel, which was also cancelled today.
The family adventure series, set in Marvel’s X-Men universe, comes from 20th Century Fox TV, which now is part of Disney.
I hear that there have been no real conversations but there is a chance for The Gifted to find a new home within the Disney family. The show is produced by Marvel Television, which currently has series on Disney-owned Freeform and Disney-controlled Hulu. (Disney+’s Marvel series come from the company’s movie division.)

I loved this show!! Hate they cancelled it. Should at least do a movie to tie up all the storylines, but would love a season 3.
Yes I would absolutely watch Season 3! I am a huge fan of the show and it saddens me that it has been cancelled and with an ending that left us hanging. It was really a great show and my favorites.
I would watch season three. Stop cancelling shows on a whim already.
I really dislike when they cancel shows like this. It was still getting its fanbase. I would watch a season 3 on any network. It was a good show.
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS NEWS….. This show was just getting intense and you just cancelled it. I have been watching it from the start to now the end. I’ve set it record on the dvr but watches it on real time. Please rethink your decision…..

Very disappointed this show has been cancelled! One of the few on cable that did not have an agenda hidden in the story; wasn’t filled with personal angst; or down right stupid. It will be missed.
Disappointed that The Gifted was cancelled. I really liked it. I’m hoping the Disney co. Picks it up & continues the storyline.
So sorry to hear this show has been cancelled. It had some shaky moments along the way but was developing into something that looked like it had a real message to deliver and an entertaining way of delivering it. Some series need time to develop and this one was just beginning to get on its feet. Really really unhappy to hear that we won’t get the chance to see what it looks like when it’s standing up. Shame on Fox for canceling it.
I’m a fan of the gifted, it’s ironic that as soon as the show got interesting it has been cancelled. Not happy that it took so long to build up and people lot interest. Please bring it back.
Very sad this show was canceled!! It was sooo good! We loved it! BRING IT BACK!! I’d even subscribe to Hulu for it.
It disappoints me that The Gifted was cancelled it was my favorite show and the only show I watched on Fox. At 71 years old I find very few shows that are entertaining and something to look forward to each week since the finale of Bones. I have a Hulu subscription and hope Disney will pick it up and continue The Runaways.
I’m totally upset with Fox for cancelling the gifted.. Fans wait all this time to see more of the show.. not to let us left hangin in mid stream of the show.. whats with that???I hope someone brings it back.. thats really not fair to any fan to just close it down without a ending or some final scene…
I am a fan of “Gifted” and wish they would renew it or it would get picked up by someone….but understand why ratings killed it. Although I believe it was a great show with fantastic writers I do know several who thought there should have been more overlap to the marvel heroes. I disagree and thing the entertainment it provided was much better than those costume wearing heroes. That said…Wherever and whenever “Gifted” comes back I will be watching it…even if it means paying for another streaming service.
That sucks, it disappoints me that this is canceled along with the other marvel shows on Netflix got cancelled.
