As expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).
The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.
Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.
Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?
I find it stupid that they have canceled The Glades.n the could have made 1 episode more (part1 and part 2) to finished the show because they left a lot of people pending for season 5. Because we all tht watch movies and shows know that the last 2 episode of season 4 was no closure. This way of doing of A&E is a very amateur way. So bring on season 5 or at least 2 episode more. So not shut down A&E!
I won’t watch any show on A&E again. They also canceled Longmire which was a great show. Thank goodness Netflix took it on for a couple of seasons.
Please, Netflix – pick this up for at least a season giving closure to the characters.
I checked ahead & knew there wouldn’t be a season 5. I kept anticipating that final episode, the closure episode. The last few moments of season 4 was not closure…it was the beginning for the next episode/season 5. We’ve all seen movies, etc, where the ending wasn’t satisfying…comprehensible…good…and much more. But this episode as “closure” hit rock bottom. Bring on Season 5, please!
Really what do you think we think? .If you were reading an interesting novel and you were a chapter to finish the book and realized someone ripped out the pages. What kind of producers think it’s pretty funny to let loyal watchers just hanging. Writers come on, where is your imagination and pride in finishing this series the right way. Very disappointed. You do realize how difficult it is to find a good series?
Seriously Netflix – take the show and produce it! Loved this show!
It’s disgusting when a sow is cancelled and it is so good! Take the other s..t programs off!
This is a rotten way to end a show without any thought to us fans who watched faithfully the four seasons. I looked for season five and it was areal disappointment that never know the ending to Jim and Callie you have let us all down.
I watched all four seasons, and popped popcorn for the fifth season, to find out it had been canceled. searched high and low to find when the fifth season was going to be shone. What a DISAPOINTMENT. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ITS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I’ve ever seen. love Callie and Jim. THEY BELONG TOGETHER. AFTER ALL THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH. AT LEAST SHOW AND ENDING. I would love to see many more seasons, if not a season five with an ending, not a cliffhanger.
I just finished watching “The Glades” again on Netflix. HOW CAN THEY DISAPPOINT VIEWERS AND NOT SHOW, AT LEAST, IF JEFF SURVIVES? Could they make a TV movie and finish the story? So sad, AND FRUSTRATING… HOPE SOMEONE HAS A HEART AND GIVES US DEVOTED FANS, THE ENDING. Someday….Di
Just finished watching the last episode of Season 4 and I am so disappointed the show got cancelled. Yes, I saw the cliffhanger coming, but even so, it was really good. I think Ray shot Jim and I was always suspicious of that guy who kept Jim up to date on Ray and telling him everything was fine. The story I’d write is that he was a double agent and worked for the big crime boss that Ray was going to be a witness against while in WPP. The two shots fired at Jim were loud, so the neighbors called… Read more »
What? No season 5? Ugh! I think Ray or his buddy Rick did it. I guess Tony didn’t think of him! I think Ray wants his son back, so he has someone else using his cards in Washington state so that he can sneak back to Florida and get JEff. I think Callie will move back to Atlanta and resume her career and school because Jim dies. The Feds hunt for Jim’s killer.
This show was one of the best on TV and was so disappointed with the cancellation of the show. The people responsible for the cancellation of the show don’t realize how many fans A&E lost as viewers over this this cliffhanger being left in this state.
Oh man, please bring this back!!!!! Loved this show as much as NCIS, wirst thing you could do.
I have always love A&E but I am so angry right now. To cancel Season 5 and be left with a cliff hanger is so frustrating…..makes me wonder if the Executive Producers get off on this. This show had humor, drama, romance and intrigue and each episode so skillfully done. I can’t imagine why you would cancel it…..oh yes, you said “ratings”. Well, you should give the viewers a choice and at least do a Season 5 (or wrap up the cliff-hanger) and let us “BUY” it if we have to. Been watching it on Netflix and it really upsets… Read more »
I just bought and watched the 4th season of The Glades. I loved the show, but Season 3 was a bit disappointing, hence the poor ratings. Season 4 picked up again and I was so disappointed it was canceled. I would think we should be due a finale of at least two hours to tie together the ending. Of course, we all know who did it and it wasn’t Ray.
No we don’t know who did it, I can think of a few options including Ray. IMO it is awful to end a show with an unresolved cliffhanger.
