Though it’s never been hit in the ratings, CBS has been renewing The Good Wife year after year. Will this be the season when the show’s luck runs out or will it be the biggest year yet? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season? We shall see.
On The Good Wife, attorney and mother Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) continues to face new challenges and opportunities in both her personal and professional lives. The series also stars Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Archie Panjabi, Graham Phillips, Makenzie Vega, Alan Cumming, Zach Grenier, and Matthew Goode.
The higher a show’s ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better its chances for survival. New ratings data will be added as it becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: CBS has renewed The Good Wife for a seventh season.
Final season averages: 1.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.72 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Last year comparison: The fifth season of The Good Wife averaged a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.4 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you still like The Good Wife TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season?
Love the show. Please keep The Good Wife on TV for season 7.
It was a fabulous show, I first come across it from a collegue and start following and downloading new episode, please don’t stop at this moment when people are desperate to find out about Careys case and Alicias campaign. We will appreciate if the show is renewed please.
KEEP The Good Wife on. There are so few shows left that are worth watching on TV, Seems we are being Inundated by Reality TV. I have enough going on in my Own life to worry about what some of these over indulged Housewives have to complain about. ..
Seems like many viewers feel like we do – we really looked forward to the show after having discovered it after it was on a few years. We watched 5 yrs worth on Netflix, then looking forward to the new season starting this fall (2014). We are 66 yo and hoped to continue watching it for the next 30 yrs! We agree that the schedule interruptions w football etc was disconcerting. It seemed a poor storyline with Cary’s legal issues and prison time following? Truly we looked forward to that issue being resolved. But – it was our favorite show… Read more »
The “Good Wife’ is a great show and should be renewed. Was disappointed that it was not aired on Sunday night, Nov 30, 2014 This is a planned evening for me at CBS — If not for this show and Madam Secretary I would not be watching CBS on Sunday nights
we love this show. We look forward to Sunday nights and my husband even gives up watching football to watch the Good Wife with me.
Renew the Good Wife!!! My family watched Alicia and the rest religiously. (Pun intended). Don’t just end in the middle of Cary’s drama, and Alicia’s campaign. That would suck if the show didn’t have some closure.
This is a well written & well acted show. It is a drama show in the evening that I just love. I hope that this show continues. The characters are fabul;ous !!
say hello to this show’s final season, horrible numbers even for TGW on Sunday
I love the Good Wife. It has me on the edge of my seat, and Sunday’s is the best night for it. Thanks.
I really like ‘The Good wife’…….BUT…AND A BIG BUT…I’m so sick of it being interrupted by FOOTBALL GAMES, OR WHAT EVER ELSE IS ON!!!! Same for Madam Secretary. It’s hard to film these kind of shows unless you record and hour before and 2 hrs after.

demo down further, skewing even older…. not good internals. may be heading for cancellation after this season. If the show doesn’t meet certain criteria, it goes whether it is a fan favorite, good show etc etc. These are numbers worse than Intelligence that was canceled. Maybe being on Sunday will save it again. It seems to be have suffered the same effect that the late late late start due to football overruns had on The Mentalist. No one watches a 10 pm show that starts at 10:45 I am not saying the show is bad or not well liked, or… Read more »
I want to know why they exclude persons over 50 from their ratings. Do they think we do not watch TV and buy from their advertisers. It is ridiculous that they exclude us!!!!
GLad that I love in a time xone that The Good Wife comes on at 9 pm. However, if that wasn’t the case, I’d set my DVR all through the evneing so I’d catch it. That said, LOVE this show! Hope it stays around for a long time! I can see it’s going to be an intense storyline this season. Great viewing ahead!
Happy you ‘love in a time xone’. So do I. I only don’t love this show.
I like the “Good Wife” but I am a bit tired of the melodrama the writers seem to love. Let’s get Kerry out of jail and move on with law and politics. That is what made the show great to start. It m,ay be time to reconsider its time slot also. Once again CBS has it in a night when sports are apt to run longer than planned. The rest of the schedule gets bumped so that, once again, a show that is scheduled for 9 pm may be starting at 10:30 or 11. DVR’s are set to record a… Read more »
