TV show description:
Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) is the wife of the State’s Attorney of Cook County, Peter Florrick (Chris Noth), who is jailed as the result of a political corruption and sex scandal. She pushes aside the public humiliation and betrayal and goes back to work as a defense attorney, despite being out of the courtroom for the past thirteen years. She finds that she has to completely start over as a junior associate and gets a job at Stern, Lockhart & Gardner, a prestigious Chicago law firm.
Will Gardner (Josh Charles) is an old friend of Alicia’s from law school, is now Firm Partner, and helped to get her foot in the door. Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) is a Senior Partner and a top litigator at the firm. She offers to mentor Alicia but that’s certainly not going to make life any easier.
The firm’s private investigator is Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi). She’s an ally to Alicia and previously worked for her husband. Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry), a recent college grad, joined the firm as a junior attorney at the same time as Alicia. Eventually only one of the two will get a permanent position at the firm and he wants to make sure he’s the man for the job.
In the courtroom, Alicia must combat grudges and scrutiny from her husband’s old allies and enemies, including Glenn Childs (Titus Welliver). Childs took over Peter’s job and leaked graphic the sex tape to the press.
With a very busy and complicated professional life, Alicia must also do her best as a lone parent to provide a stable home for her children, 14-year-old Zach (Graham Phillips) and 13-year-old Grace (Makenzie Vega). Though the relationship can be awkward, Peter’s mother, Jackie (Mary Beth Peil), helps manage the house while Alicia’s away.
Episode #156 — End
The jury in Peter’s trial wants to hear the actual audio recording of the 911 call, instead of just the transcript. His legal team scrambles to find a legal precedent to allow them to re-open trial proceedings to hear testimony related to the call. Thanks to remembering her time with Will, Alicia finds one.
Peter learns that Eli’s been pushing the big money contributors to shift their backing from Peter to Alicia. He’s not happy but understands the reasoning. Alicia doesn’t know.
Much to Diane’s chagrin, Alicia decides that they must discredit Diane’s husband Kurt and his testimony on the stand. Lucca blindsides Kurt on the stand with questions about his affair. Diane leaves the courtroom in tears.
Peter agrees to a one-year probation deal which includes in stepping down from office. Alicia stands with him at his press conference but leaves him as he starts to take his hand. She goes to find Jason but finds Diane instead who slaps her shockingly hard. Our heroine adjusts her jacket and walks away confidently while facing an uncertain future.
First aired: May 8, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like The Good Wife TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for an eighth season.
This is one of my favorite shows. I look forward to seeing it every Sunday night. There just isn’t any good tv on anymore and you keep pulling the good shows and replacing them with reality shows or something stupid. I will quit watching cbs if you keep cancelling the good shows.
Will be missed, one of the few shows where female leads dominate – not because of their sexuality, but by sheer presence, strength of character, dialog, and performance.
This is one of the best shows on Sunday night TV, in fact I would follow it to any night
Here we go again!!! Of course the network will cancel a fantastic show and replace it with some idiotic reality show. After all we are just the viewers!
That is so true! All of the good shows get cancelled, but would they ever even think of canceling The Bachelor or any other stupid reality show? Of course not! It drives me crazy! What ever happened to quality television?
It was a good show and now just keeps repeating the same plot lines. It’s time to put it to bed.
This is definately a good show. Look forward to watching it each week. Definately keeps your interest. What will happen to Allicia next, what will happen to the governor, what will be with the Lockhart & Family lawfirm. Always a twist – that’s what makes it interesting and keeps the viewers tuning in. Keep it on.
No sorry to see it go. Kalinda was the show.
when will Gardner was gunned down in the courtroom, this show ended for me. I love Alicia, but I loved this show more with the two of them together.
Please keep The Good Wife going. It is by far the best program on television. Why take it off the air? It’s creative and intelligent. Please reconsider the decision to pull it. The Kings are leaving, but there are other writers that can step up the plate. Don’t disappoint all of your fans. Keep The Good Wife on the air!
It’s one of my must see shows…..please don’t cancel it
One of my favorites and I don’t want to see it end. The story line was getting a little stale but think with new Private Investigator – The gorgeous one, it could get more interesting. Now that Peter isn’t in the running as Presidential candidate, there are many avenues/twists this could take.
I really like this show and am sorry to see if go although the story line was getting stale.
I’m sad. Sunday’s won’t be the same without The Good Life and Downton Abby.
Completely agree, Downton Abby is one of the Greats.
Very disappointed. This is one of the only shows I’ve looked forward to every week. The characters are well-written and the evolution of the plot has been interesting, never dull. I will really miss Alicia, Eli and the rest of the characters. Hope it’s not replaced with inane situation comedies and reality shows. Maybe another network will pick iphone up.
Frank & Barbara. Love the show, really mad when heard during the Super Bowl there were 9 more episodes left. But this isn’t the only show that we like that is or was cancelled. Also, can’t believe CBS also cancelled Mike and Molly. Bring on more ridiculous reality shows. At least if they do, we won’t be watching CBS.
