TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Keep this show. I choose to watch this show over my other Sunday shows because it’s funny and creative. These characters have great chemistry and the writers come up with great storylines for them.
Renew The Librarians! It’s the first show that we and BOTH of our teenagers enjoy! That is incredibly rare.
Love it! Keep it please, it kind of makes up for the hole The Closer left.

We feel this is a great show for both adults and preeteens /teens. Our family has enjoyed watching it each week. We hope very much this is not the last we see of “the library ” and the “librarians “!

the Librarians is a good show, i really like tnt’s line up of shows I just hate how they space the seasons so far apart for some of the shows i hate waiting a year for them to come back. I hope they keep the librarians.
Definitely keep it, but I think that it needs more Noah Wylie and that they need to find the library.
Great cast. Great plot. Great all. I loved every minute of every episode, and I’m not the only one, for sure. Keep the show! Give us a second season and give the show a second chance!

Keep it! It’s one of the few decent shows not based on criminals, violence, major illness, sex cops, doctors or lawyers. And bring back Perception too!!

I think this show is really great. I loved the movies and wished they had made more and I love the cast they are awesome together. There are more adventures to be had and to not give the show another chance is just wrong. If at first u don’t succeed, try again! Hope there is more to come!!!
