TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Love the show…keep it..it’s clean and fun
I always enjoyed the movies and like the series. It is very much similar in ways to Warehouse 13 which we were sad to see cancelled. Please keep the show. It’s a nice twist on things.

PLEASE KEEP IT GOING!!! Renew….I’m sooooo tired of reality shows and this is such a fun show!!! Not to mention the cast is great! Something different and fun to watch I’m all over this one!

Keep! The Librarians is a wonderful show encouraging books, imagination the and adventure. The true gift of the show, is how it accomplishes all this while being truely entertaining. The cast has remarkable chemistry and really seem to enjoy working together. The Librarians fills a void in a world of too much reality, dark drama, junior high comedy level cartoons, and endless news and sports television. The literary world is full of stories yet to be discovered!
I love this series! I started with the movies, and the series didn’t disappoint.
Please keep the librarians. It is a great family show. Everyone can watch as the blood and gore is minimal, no over-sexed characters,and teens can learn the value of knowledge vs the value of a smart*** quip. Please keep this show so families have at least one show they can watch together.

Keep it, it is a great show with twists you do not expect, great actors doing a fantastic job, great scripts that show imagination and intelligence without being too technical. It is Magical
