TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”
But, what do you think? Do you like The Librarians TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

My apologies to Mr. Larroquette. The evil magic auto correct monster invaded my last post. Obviously, keep The Librarians going!

Keep The Libratians! It is fantastic!
Please pick it up for a second season. It has had my attention from the beginning!!
Please keep The Librarians. I can watch this show over and over and not get bored with it. Love the actors and the story lines so far. It’s a show the whole family can watch together.
Please keep this show. You canceled King and Maxwell….Leverage is gone now. My family and I have invested our time and energy into several shows on this channel, only to see them canceled when they are barely “out of the gate”. Thank you for transitioning ” The Closer” into “Major Crimes”. Frankly though, if another show we love gets canceled I won’t wish to invest more time with TNT. (By the way, Jon Tenney was one of your better assets—where is he?!)
Please keep this show on. Nice to have good entertainment. Keep it on!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this show. Please keep it.
Please keep the Librarians going. An mystical, magical, mysterious romp that the whole family can enjoy. Raiders, Harry Potter, Agatha Christie, with real hero’s and villans and the good guys win. KEEP IT GOING.
I really hope that they keep this one! It’s a clever spit off from the movies with a great cast!
