TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

I would highly recommend renewing The Librarians. It is the best new show to hit TV in quite a while! Fresh and different without being “too weird”. I think the fan base will continue to grow given an opportunity! Please I say please give us more of the quirky librarians.
I was drawn to the show due to the similarities to Warehouse 13. I
Loved that show and miss it so much. Librarians is a suitable replacement and should be kept on the TNT roster. TNT if you can spends 10 millions dollars on Falling skies which should have been canceled 2 seasons ago you can a quarter of that on the Librarians

Please keep the show on! The characters are all fun and quirky. I love the fact that one of them is actually from Oklahoma, and doesn’t sound like he’s from the deep south. Plus he talks about the kinds of things we really have in Oklahoma (like working in an oil field for instance.) Also nice to see a clean, family friendly show with lots of action, but also subjects that make people think. I certainly hope you will consider renewing the show for another season.

Definitely keep! Love the show it’s different from the run-of-the-mill crime shows. It’s exciting, with adventure, fantasy,and sci-fi. It’s also humorous, and geeky and fun for the entire family.
Please RENEW The Librarians! I am a #Kaniac (a fan of #Christian Kane) as well. This is a great show, with very talented actors. It has an awesome story line, and has something for the whole family, which is rare in alot of tv shows. It is an expression of the talent of #Dean Devlin, who in my opinion has the Midas touch, as well as TNT which is my number 1 choice for entertainment.
I love the show and watch it every week. Please keep it on the air!
