TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

I like the librarians and thonk it should continue there are too many good shows thatcome out,and then get cancelled after 1 season.
I LOVE the Librarians. The cast is great. Think they mesh very well together. Each story has been an adventure u can get lost in. Would definitely recommend keeping the series

I love The Librarians! Will be sorely disappointed in TNT if they cancel this show. The cast is fun to watch as they each bring unique qualities to the story.The story line is good and deserves to have time to develop. I really won’t have a reason to watch TNT if this show is cancelled.
I’ve enjoyed the new series. It has the same light comedy as the movies while also packing a punch in the historical data department. The actors seem to have genuine chemistry and work well together. Please KEEP The Librarians! I look forward to seeing a full season!
Wow, what a great show! Every week I look forward to seeing what the characters do next, and what kind of crazy and thrilling things happen to them. This show is so different from all the others. It has a unique storyline, well rounded characters, and a very smart humor, all of which is much different than the dark, sex-filled angst that seems to fill up primetime these days. This show is fantastic! All the different artifacts that are available to find make idly fun to watch. The character’s chemistry is fantastic and they’re so funny to watch together! I love love love this show and I really would hate to see it shut off. Since leverage was turned off, this has been the best show on TNT. Dean Devlin is great and I love how fun and exciting this series has been.

My favorite favorite show on TV now. Please, please, please bring it back for a second añd longer season. I’ll buy the full second season as soon as it’s available on Amazon (even before season premier airs if can) and can’t wait for DVD of first season to become available. The series is just finding its perfect tone and needs many more episodes.
