TV show description:
Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik) is a young paramedic who has a secret. He’s also a telepath who’s managed to keep his extraordinary ability hidden. He explores its possibilities only with his long-time mentor and confidant, Dr. Ray Mercer (Colm Feore).
Responding to calls with his paramedic partner, energetic Osman “Oz” Bey (Ennis Esmer), Toby uses his ability to help people in crisis. In the process, he also tries to unravel the truth about his own enigmatic past.
While his professional life is in check, Toby’s personal life could use some rescuing of its own. With the help of Detective Charlie Marks (Lisa Marcos) and his ex-girlfriend, E.R. doctor Olivia Fawcett (Mylène Dinh-Robic), Toby realizes his gift can help others in more ways than he imagined.
Episode #65 — In Our Midst
Secrets from Toby’s (Craig Olejnik) past are finally brought to light. Also Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith), Toby, and Dev (Rainbow Sun Francks) find themselves in the extremely uncomfortable position of investigating their own boss. On clandestine orders from Judge Samuel Griffin (Bruce Gray) and Deputy Commissioner Earl Bamford (Brian Paul) of the IIB, the team must look into Becker’s (Anthony Lemke) dealings with Curtis Maynard (Noam Jenkins), a disgraced former cop with connections to drug dealing.

I am so disappointed that The Listener has been cancelled. I accidentally found the show on YouTube and couldn’t stop watching. I love the interaction between the characters, especially Toby and Oz. There are too many unanswered questions, like will Toby ever find his mom?, will Oz find the one?, will Tia and Toby get married?, what happens between Dev and the girl in the forensic lab? There needs to be a season 6!
I have only recently (past couple of months) found this program on the Ion Channel. This is a wonderful show and I would like to see more. I wish I had known about this program years back. Is there anyway to bring it back to television after the 2014 season Finale?

It isn’t likely coming back. We can hope for a miniseries, but that is a stretch even. ION TV is showing it in the US at the rather inconvenient hour of 11 PM on Saturday, and they do have rights to all 5 seasons. I have yet to find region 1 DVD releases for all 5 seasons. From what I read it did well in Canada and overseas. In first run in the US NBC gave up on it the 1st season, so we are lucky to have 5 seasons.
I have only recently started watching the reruns and I love the show. I wish they would bring it back.
The Listener challenges the viewer in ways other crime dramas cannot. It’s truly a shame the show has been cancelled after five seasons; it should be renewed
I too discovered this show after ION / CTV took it out of production. It is a great show with a strong cast. Craig Olejnik does a wonderful job in the title role. Can we at least hope for a miniseries if not a resurrection? We really don’t need more reality shows.

I love watching The Listener! I love Toby and Oz! I hate that they
killed Charlie’s character! I really liked Lisa! Hope to see her in
another show again soon. She is such a beautiful lady. I hope
The Listener stays on a few more seasons! I was also sorry when
the Dr died from that virus! Why are all these shows killing off
their stars? It stinks! I get it when the actor is wanting to
leave the show but to do it just for the story line, that sucks!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BRING BACK TOBY AND THE CREW. I just started watching in 2014 and was hooked after the first episode. The cast is terrific and work well together. It’s like a family. We need more shows of this caliber and not the shows that are for dim wits with two brain cells. We have to stop producing shows that just bring this country down.
