These days, TV shows can use all the help they can get to attract positive ratings and stay on the air. Even a little magic wouldn’t hurt. How will The Magicians perform for Syfy? Will the fantasy series be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, The Magicians TV show is set at the secret Brakebills University for students of magical ability. Grad student Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) spends more time immersed in a fantasy book series than living his life. When he and his best friend Julia (Stella Maeve) are transported to Brakebills for an entrance exam, their world changes forever. The cast also includes Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleton, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy, Anne Dudek, Jade Tailor, and Esme Bianco.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like The Magicians TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I’m one of those people who don’t follow up on shows let alone get into many shows at all. I’m more of a movie buff. Ultimately a they has to really grab my attention. However as soon as it hit Netflix I thought why not. I haven’t even finished the season and I can only hope it continues. Something about it has really grabbed my attention and I hope they don’t drop it after 2 or 3 seasons. That would truly upset me.
Too much smoking
I’ve only watch two episodes, but both had too much unnecessary smoking.
It’s been establish that teens are influenced by smoking behaviors observed on TV.
Unless the smoking adds to the story line, there’s no good reason to include it, unless the show is getting kickbacks from the tobacco industry.
I though so too. Even the actors looked awkward trying to pull it off–it’s obvious most of them are not actual smokers. There wasn’t any significant smoking in the first three seasons, so it looked so out of place when it was overtly injected into the character behaviors. It looked so artificial. I guess it’s another case of irresistible Big Tobacco donations winning out over common sensibilities. If anything, a magician would vape something exotic and mystical, not something so mundane as tobacco.
I certainly hope it is not cancelled. I wasn’t prepared to like this show but it definately pulled me in show by show!!
It’s been picked up for a 2nd season and producers have enough storyline for 6 seasons.
Why would it take so LONG?
