You know that old line about “Please, don’t shoot the messenger”? Well, The CW has done just that. The network has cancelled The Messengers after one season. Only three episodes have aired thus far.
On The Messengers TV show, a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash. It sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers. They receive extraordinary gifts, from inexplicable strength to the ability to heal others. The cast includes Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-D’Elia, J. D. Pardo, Joel Courtney, Anna Diop, and Diogo Morgado.
The move to cancel the series doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Messengers has performed quite poorly so far, even for a Friday night show. Last week’s installment hit a new low with just 650,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
For now, it looks like the series will stay on the air to finish out its run of 13 total episodes.

The show should have never been cancelled. Awesome show bring it back!!! CW’ propaganda of the show was not good enough!! Bring the show back.

This is one of the best shows on Netflix. A unique story that I’ve never seen before. It’s wonderfull to have a show other than vampires. Great messages for everyone to learn from. Please bring this back.
I just discovered The Messengers, and spent 3 days watching season 1 on Netflix. I think it was a great show. I didn’t have access to it last year when it was showing on The CW. A Lot of people here would like to see it come back. Include me in that.
the network should have continued with the next season for us this was a fantastic show that kept us very entertained and show us a very good story in world that nothing appears to be what it seems edgy strong funny .four out five stars I give I four stars.
I love the show, I just binge watched the entire first season. I can’t believe the show is cancelled I’m super bummed. It’s like anything else if ya don’t pump somethinges up enuff to let the public know about it ppl aren’t gonna know it’s there. Also I feel it’s another one of those things of ppl pulling away from religious elements. We need more shows like this on TV. Less sex and violence and more about family values, God and morales.
Come on, this show was so full of holes and idiots. It was an embarrassment. But sadly this is probably the best that Hollywood can do.
Netflix should pick up and continue on with the production of The Messengers, it’s a really good series.
Good show, not sure why it didn’t take off. Watching season 1 on Netflix now. Hope they pick it up and adds more episodes like they did with The Killing (another good show!)

I think the messengers was a great show. Sure it was a little hard to follow in the beginning, but towards the end in my eye, it turned out to be a fantastic series.
why would they cancel it it is such a good show at least make more series and finish the series on netflixor something i would love to watch it. This show is so far the best i have seen.Wish there was a second seasonm made

i think that the messengers should stay on netflix because it left us off with a cliff hanger and it is realy exciting
The networks have done the same thing with other shows (i.e. The Witches of Eastend). The problem is, is that these so called experts in television have no idea as to what is good and what isn’t. It takes time to mold a series and the characters to fit what the audience wants. There have been many series that started off with high ratings and in a couple of years they make a nose dive. But the networks keep them on. And the crap I see on tv now make me want to puke!!! They should leave this program on… Read more »
