You know that old line about “Please, don’t shoot the messenger”? Well, The CW has done just that. The network has cancelled The Messengers after one season. Only three episodes have aired thus far.
On The Messengers TV show, a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash. It sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers. They receive extraordinary gifts, from inexplicable strength to the ability to heal others. The cast includes Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-D’Elia, J. D. Pardo, Joel Courtney, Anna Diop, and Diogo Morgado.
The move to cancel the series doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Messengers has performed quite poorly so far, even for a Friday night show. Last week’s installment hit a new low with just 650,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
For now, it looks like the series will stay on the air to finish out its run of 13 total episodes.

I really liked The Messengers. I watch a lot of series on CW and would defiinately watch it if it came back for Season 2!

Why are the networks cancelling all these great show? What are they basing it on, because I know as a TV junkie, that I many times, I wait to be able to binge-watch shows and end up falling in love with them!
It’s a time where there is Netflix, Hulu, Prime video, and countless other streaming and downloading apps. They need to start basing their ratings through other means.
Messengers was a great sci-fi/fantasy show, and I could go on and on about several others that have met its same fate….but who’s truly listening?
OH. MY. GOSH. WE LITERALLY SHARE THE EXACT SAME OPINION. You have nooo idea how many times I’ve said that. The same happened with The Tomorrow People.
I don’t think these networks understand that people don’t watch cable TV anymore. With online streaming, Netflix, Hulu, etc, there’s no need to spend 30 a month for cable when you can just pay 8 a month for Netflix. And the rating for this show is at 5 stars on Netflix.

Hi I am a CW fanatic and I have watched everything on the CW from the Vampire Diaries, The Originals, The 100, The Flash, Arrow, StarCrossed (another cancelled show by the CW) and last but certainly not least The Messengers. My first time watching it today on Netflix was hooked watched all day long shouldn’t have canceled this show it has meaning and was full of action . Alot of ppl probably didn’t know what it was about that’s why u didn’t have many viewers …I hope it comes back love the actors
Why didn’t I know about this show until now? Wow, I absolutely fell in love with this show but it doesn’t surprise me that CW always cancels great shows and yet to keep non entertainment shows. I really hope another network picks it up for season 2… Please
I loved The Messengers! Never thought much of it but then it just started catching my attention! It’s a really great show! Please make a second season i would really like to know what happens with the Antichrist & Archangel! Please bring it back!
