TV show description:
In this supernatural dramatic series, a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash. It sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers. They receive extraordinary gifts, from inexplicable strength to the ability to heal others.
In the white-hot sun of the New Mexico desert, scientist Vera Buckley (Shantel VanSanten) watches in fascination as a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash, sending out a shock wave that briefly stops Vera’s heart and panics her techie coworker, Alan Harris (Craig Harris).
Vera is not the only one affected by the blast; she is instantly and mysteriously connected to four other strangers, who also collapse only to miraculously come back to life.
Erin Calder (Sofia Black-D’Elia) is a young mother who’s desperate to protect her seven-year-old daughter from an abusive ex-husband.
Peter Moore (Joel Courtney) is a troubled high school student who is finally able to end the constant bullying he can no longer endure
Raul Garcia (J. D. Pardo) is a federal agent who’s looking to escape his undercover assignment in a violent Mexican drug cartel.
Finally, Joshua Silburn, Jr. (Jon Fletcher) is a charismatic second-generation televangelist who’s following in his father’s footsteps.
Most mysterious of all is the figure known only as The Man (Diogo Morgado). He offers Vera the one thing she wants most in life -– to be reunited with her kidnapped son. This gift comes with a price however and he asks her to help him with one morally complicated task.
That task puts Vera on a collision course with nurse Rose Arvale (Anna Diop) who, after a seemingly random act of violence left her in a coma for seven years, suddenly begins to stir.
As Joshua Jr. prophesied, the wheels of Revelation have begun to turn, and these five newly christened Angels of the Apocalypse may be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture.
Episode #13 — Houston We Have a Problem
The Messengers face off against the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, whose plan to break the fifth seal could destroy everything our heroes hold dear. It’s up to The Messengers to stop the Horsemen once and for all — at any cost.
First aired: July 24, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like The Messengers TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
The show was good. I am surprised it got cancelled early. The network should have given it more time to develop. I’m one who would want to see another season. I think the network doesn’t realize that there are more fans of this show than they see with just ratings.
I love this show … Seems they don’t give shows a chance …. You start to watch a show and then poof it is off the air …
2 nd season….pleeeease………
Please reconsider and give this show a 2nd season to really see if it catches on. Love this show
Why did it get cancelled I think it was a really good show getting tired of so many cop or cis
shows
My family loves The Messengers, please give it more time, change the night, and promote it more. You have a hit on your hands, it is a show with a great story. It is relatable by all age groups and has a great cast of characters.
Really! We agree completely!
I believe The CW does not want certain series to do well. I have seen so many series come and go within a relatively short amount of time on the CW channel. I enjoyed this show although it was a little slow at times it had a good story to tell. I would like to see the series get another chance and give us the full scope of it. How about it CW?
I love this show! It should NOT have been canceled. Why isn’t it on tonight? It is Friday?
Karen, it will be back on July 10th with the next of the 3 last episodes! So watch it and get more friends to catch up (on hulu or The Messengers website) and help get numbers up for the last three episodes!!
It was a really good story, but no matter how good it was it was doomed because of the religious message, Even though it doesn’t mention Jesus by name, but then if it did, it wouldn’t have made it 10 shows…
I agree that the story (with all the complexities of it) is really good! These characters have to have faith in themselves–and in one another—in order to use their gifts to stop evil. That’s a universal message that can be tied to religion, but doesn’t have to be. I think the show didn’t get a second season because 1. it premiered April 17th, giving it very little time before the May decision time for CW (only 3 episodes!) 2. it was placed on Friday nights (not a great time for a new series to gain an audience) and finally 3.… Read more »
I agree with all three of your reasons for the show not getting a second season. It is really disappointing since most shows with any substance don’t go too far.
So, since it will return on Friday, July 10th, try to get as many people as possible to tune in to it!
If ratings (# of viewers) goes up, there will be more of a chance of it being bought/continued by another network.
I agree
I love this show and so does my 11 year old son. I think you have made the wrong decision so please, please review. He and I are so disappointed that it as been cancelled.
This show definitely needs to be renewed for a 2nd season!!!!!!! I loved the show. It is a refreshing change from all the crap on TV now. Maybe giving the show a better time slot would help the ratings!
I love the show! Renew it please! Why does all the bad, stupid shows stay on the t.v. and the good ones get cancelled without being given a chance?!
Totally agree with you. I love this show too and they cancelled it. Disappointed 🙁
RENEW, I love it. Please keep it going. Beverley
I hate that it was cancelled. This was a show that I was able to watch with my teenage sons and everyone really enjoyed it.
Why did you cancel before giving it a shot I really liked it.
because it was doing lousy in the ratings and still is. i like it to but we are very few.
