It looks like CBS is cleaning off their shelves before the start of the new fall season. The network has announced plans to air the remaining unaired episodes of cancelled comedies The McCarthys and The Millers on Saturday nights in July.
There are six episodes remaining from the second season of The Millers. They’ll air in pairs starting at 8pm, on July 4th, July 11th, and July 18th.
Set in Leesburg, Virginia, The Millers follows a local TV news reporter (Will Arnett) who’s been hiding his recent divorce from his parents. When they hear the news, his dad (Beau Bridges) his mom (Margo Martindale) are inspired to separate and each move in with their kids. The rest of the sitcom’s cast includes J.B. Smoove, Jayma Mays, Nelson Franklin, Lulu Wilson, and Sean Hayes.
There are just four remaining installments of The McCarthys. They’ll air in pairs starting at 9pm on July 4th and July 11th.
The McCarthys revolves around sports-crazed family from Boston. Athletically-challenged and gay son Ronny (Tyler Ritter) plans to finally move away to start his own life. Those plans are thrown into turmoil when his basketball coach dad (Jack McGee) offers him a job as assistant coach — much to the dismay of Ronny’s siblings. The sitcom also stars Laurie Metcalf, Jimmy Dunn, Joey McIntyre, and Kelen Coleman.
What do you think? Do you plan to watch the leftover episodes of these sitcoms? Do you think either of them should have been cancelled?
I really like these sitcoms, especially McCarthys!! I was quite bummed that it was cancelled, but as was said by someone else, with a November debut on Thursday, the other nets had like 6 weeks to establish viewership… how could CBS compete with that? I will watch the shows in July; maybe they’ll do well enough for CBS to reconsider their demise… at least in the case of The McCarthys!
Both shows were funnier than 2 Broke Girls. I can’t understand why CBS will keep garbage like that on the air and cancel shows that are really funny. CBS took a big gamble with Thursday night football and got burnt badly. Most of the games were blowouts that failed to hold viewers’ attention. Their regular Thursday night programming premiered six weeks later than normal, which gave viewers time to sample shows on other networks.
I agree! And I will watch the remaining episodes of both shows…although, it’s going to be a let down to be hanging if the shows don’t have some sort of closure. Maybe, just maybe, if we all keep rooting for the return, CBS will bring both shows back. Crossing fingers!!
cbs to air…. WHY?
Because some of us loved the Millers. I laughed all the time. I watch TV to laugh too. To each his own.
Stupid show – same old stupid sitcom show… I strugggled thru two shows… painful show…
Both shows grated on my nerves so I stopped watching both of them. I don’t watch the tube to get agitated and irritated.
Keep this FUNNY show. RENEW!!! RENEW!!!
Both Millers and McCarthys are horrible. Guess CBS didn’t get the memo. Don’t know how both of the network’s new sitcoms Life in Pieces and Angel From Hell are going to fare this Fall.
I really liked both of these shows. The actors all did a great job and I looked forward to seeing “The McCarthy’s” and “The Miller’s”. I think that CBS needs another way of determining what shows should be taken off the air. Nielsen ratings are not accurate as to what everyone else wants to watch.
No interest, will not be watching. Quit watching both before they even got canceled. They should have put these on a sister station to start, not on CBS! Just not broadcast network quality shows.
Anything good gets cancelled. Network e the most stupid people on the planet.
I really like the Miller’s. I don’t know why you had to cancel it. Network’s always seem to cancel the good shows and keep the crappie ones. May have to consider not watching television except for news shows.
Yay!! We loved The Millers!!!!! We also watched The McCarthys also, but knew that would get cancelled. Can’t wait to watch these!
I was so sad to see The McCarthys get canceled. It was so hilarious – my family laughed out loud at every show. What is up with you people – why can’t u ever give shows time to catch on. The cast of this show were a riot.
I’m really glad to hear that the remaining episodes of those two shows will be airing!…I’d been wondering about that and thought that I wouldn’t get to see them…So, despite how disappointing it is that the shows were cancelled (they’re two of only 3 CBS comedies I watched this season), it’s cool that the remaining episodes will be airing, and I’ll definitely plan to watch them!

I really liked The Miller’s. Margo Martindale was terrific. I definitely will watch the remain 6 shows. The McCarthys I probably will pass on.
I agree w/Linda. We loved THE MILLERS but didn’t care for the McCarthy’s…. too goofy.
So I’m glad the remaining episodes will be shown. Now if we could just get CBS to pick up FOREVER…….. since ABC execs were obviously too ignorant to keep it. Just saying…
