Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

I think it is a shame that an informative and interesting show like Nate’s is cancelled. The network is filled with cooking shows and not everyone likes to cook. Decorating ideas from someone as talented as Nate should have a show! I definitely think that Oprah should pick up his show on her network. It would get more people to watch the OWN network. He is so talented and nice!
I am so disappointed to hear that Nate has been cancelled. It is my favorite show. I love Nate and all of his tips. I love the guests. Nate has inspired me so many times. PLEASE, we don’t need another “talk show”. We need this instructional show that has made so many changes in peoples lives.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep “The Nate Show”. The executives don’t always know what the audience wants. Executives have made mistakes before. WE
NEED NATE !!!!!!!
I was very surprised and saddened to here the Nate show was being cancelled. I believe the 2pm time slot is a major problem. I love the show and record it daily. I especially liked the Goodwill fellow that was house proud and then a guest on the show. Nate is adorable and has a happy and relaxed style. I do hope his show is picked up somewhere. I will miss all his great decorating tips. PLEASE DO NOT END THE SHOW!!!!
Anyone I talk to cannot believe that you are cancelling Nate Berkus’s show. Do you realize how he has influenced people into decorating their homes and other things. He talks to people , not down to people. He makes you know that you can do this. Make your home your own. Especially loved the House Proud segments. Wanted more decorating projects, less fashion and food. But I understood how they all add to making one feel like they can do it too. He is such a warm friendly personality and is not fake or phony. Love this show, Do not… Read more »
BIG MISTAKE! A quality, clean, intelligent show that actually treats women like they have a brain in their head. Cut back some prizes but, don’t loose the one show on national channels that treat people as people.
THE NATE SHOW SHOULD BE PICKED UP. It is the most practical, informable, and delightful show. I recently found it and I am disapointed that networks drops a shows like this. This show has something for everyone. I am bitterly disapointed!!!
Nate is unique. His personality is very sweet and his show creative and entertaining. Please, please, please someone pick him up!!!! If not OWN, how about HGTV?
Please keep Nate.. The network OWN could pick him up. I loved the ideas Nate had.
Just stick to decorating and no fashion or cooking.
Nate is awesome. We want Nate!! We want Nate!!!
It’s a good show, but a little too much cooking and dressing…..would have prefered it had he stuck to designing and DIY projects. The first season was the best and this second season kind of just wound down. I get it at 9 AM and 3 PM in Jacksonville, FL. I hate to see it go completely as I did the Bonnie Hunt Show. It was so different and upbeat and she was so funny……it was my favorite show.
PLEASE KEEP NATE!!!!!
I LOVE his great ideas!!!!!!
Love Nate, and hope he will develop another show not associated with Oprah who seems to be on a downward spiral. I have always enjoyed Nate, and think he is so talented and a wonderful person. I wish him the very best in all his future endeavors, whether or not he wants to continue on television. I would much prefer to watch Nate rather than Jeff Probst (boring), Steve Harvey, Katie Couric (boring), or other recently proposed proposed talk shows. I’m also disappointed in Anderson Cooper’s show. Will miss Nate.
Love the show. I tape it everyday incase I missed it. Going to miss morning with Nate and his great guests. I was really hoping to make a audience some day.
Now that I am retired, I can watch Nate’s show. I am so disappointed that it has been cancelled. I would rather watch this show than any other daytime show on TV. I hope this show gets picked up by some other entity so we still have access to it.
Best show on that station! Love Nate, he’s like a breath of fresh air! Really what the hell could they be thinking!?!!!
I was really disappointed to hear it was cancelled! I was a loyal fan that watched every day! Enjoyed the tips he gave that anyone could do. Wish a cable channel would pick up his show so all his fans could keep watching!!
