While Mr. Selfridge has supposedly been renewed, BBC1 has pulled the plug on The Paradise. There won’t be a third season for the period drama.
The Paradise revolves around the people who work and shop at the first English department store. Set in 1875, castmembers have included Emun Elliott, Joanna Vanderham, Elaine Cassidy, Sarah Lancashire, Matthew McNulty, Peter Wight, David Hayman, Stephen Wight, Sonya Cassidy, Ruby Bentall, Finn Burridge, and Patrick Malahide.
Of the cancellation, a BBC spokesperson said, “We are incredibly proud to have made two successful series of period drama The Paradise for BBC1. However, in order to make room for new dramas to come through, The Paradise won’t be returning.”
The show airs on PBS here in the US and only the first season has been shown. That ended in November and there’s been no word of airing the second season yet.

Absolutely loved this series, my husband and I just finished watching the 2nd season. Was so disappointed to find out there will not be a 3rd ! Please reconsider
I just discovered this series on Netflix – I am hooked and love the show. i was so sad to discover that there will not be a season 3. The characters are interesting, the clothes are beautiful, and the story lines are engaging.
I regard this series as entertainment in the truest sense of the word. Please consider at least one more season!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching The Paradise – what a shame it was cancelled. Would be thrilled if it was picked up again.
Absolutely delightful. Season 2 ran into a bit of a messy, hurried ending though. A third season to smooth over the anguish and plot a more cheerful path for our beloved characters would have been most satisfying.
I just bunged watched The Paradise on my vacation and dismayed that there is not a season 3. It is simply brilliant and I want more of it. Please BBC re consider your decision.
It is a period piece that is relevant for yesterday, today and perhaps tomorrow!
I cant believe we are not having a third series of the Paradise with all the rubbish you put on what could be better than cancelling some of that for a brilliant drama of such quality shame on you BBC !!!!
I just finished the second season of The Paradise and I really wish there were more seasons. In this day and time it is hard to find such a quality show. The story is well written and very tasteful! It has enough suspense and gives insight into the business sense of the time. PLEASE bring it back! We need quality tv shows like this!
I binge watched all the series on Netflix. I’m so sad it won’t be a 3rd season. It was enticeing , witty, entertaining but most importantly I couldn’t forsee what was about to happen next, unlike most other series that have a pattern. Please bring it back for another season 🙂
