ABC hasn’t had much luck launching a new reality show in quite some time so they tried something different this time — The Quest. Is it a ratings success? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
On The Quest, a dozen everyday people are transported to a fantasy world called Everealm where they have adventures and compete to be the last “true hero” remaining. The cast includes Peter Windhofer, Jan Hutter, Marcello de Nardo, Susanne Gschwendtner, Stephanie Buddenbrock, Florence Kasumba, Mai Duong Kieu, and Doug Tait.
The show debuted at the end of July to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.82 million viewers. It was a very poor start — even for a summer series — and the numbers have gotten worse as the weeks have gone by.

The season currently averages a paltry 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.96 million viewers. That’s worse than Sing Your Face Off, a celebrity reality show that was burned off on Saturday nights in June.
To be fair, The Quest has had to compete with football games in some markets and has also been preempted by games on some local ABC stations. The ratings are still very, very low however and the network knew that the series would be interrupted when they scheduled it — a sign that they probably had no faith in it.
In the end, it’s highly unlikely that ABC will want to take a chance on ordering a second season of The Quest.
But, what do you think? Do you like The Quest TV show? Do you think it should be renewed for a second season or should it be cancelled instead?
I absolutely loved it!!! Way better than most of the other reality garbage they stations force on us. I was really involved with the story and the Paladins. I actually cried when some of them were banished. My favorite was Bonnie. Please bring this show back for another season. I am not young enough to participate but I can sure imagine myself in a world like Everrealm.
I thought this show was the most original thing I’ve ever seen since The Real World started pioneering reality TV back in the day when I was a pre-teen/teenager! It would be SUCH a shame to see such creative talent and such amazing use of budget be squandered just because a show had to compete with a few football games… I hate sports. I want to be on this show badly… I want to be the one ~true~ hero… :3 “Sing Your Face Off”??? Are you KIDDING me??? This is worth SO MUCH MORE than that, if only people would… Read more »
Our household loved the show. Can’t wait for them to make the sequel. There were awesome moments that gave goose bumps. Easy to overlook the less than average other moments. MORE MORE MORE.
My daughter and I loved it. Please bring it back.
My family loves the show it should definitely be renewed for a second season. It has everything reality contest, fantasy story and total environment, and teaches the participants and viewers good values. We all wished we could be there.
I thought it was great too. Yes it does need smoother interactions between the actors, contestants and the storyline, but it was still very good anyway. You just had to let your imagination run with it some. Anyway, I really liked it and want to see more.
My boyfriend and I really liked the show. The fact that the people on the show wee not constantly plotting against each other, yet it still had that weekly elimination element. The settings and storyline were great. This could be a sleeper…a great antidote for shows like Big Brother that are just backstabbing mayhem and chaos. As the series progressed the acting improved with the regular characters. I hope it does re new.
I really liked it. It’s a show I would love to have been part of in my youth. I would still love to have a part of that show. It was refreshing, fun and in a time where there are millions of stupid reality or actuality or what every they call it these days, it was refreshing and I would love to see more of it.
I loved it !!!!!!! There is nothing like it today on tv ,where people like me can become heroes. Please please please bring it back!!!!!!!
I was a little disappointed in the scripted parts as well as the non-competition actors. With “lord of the Rings” makers involved I expected more. It was just corny. Loved the competition parts ad well as settings and costumes. So of they could improve the script/actors so it didn’t seem as if they were just making things up as they went along then I would say go for a second season. I really loved the concept I just don’t think they pulled it off well.
This is one of the best shows I have watched in a long time!!! The plot was great, there was a protagonist and an antagonist with plots and sub plots. This concept of The Quest was so well done that I actually got so involved with the story line I actually kept forgetting it was a reality show. I enjoy The Quest very much! Please give the show a chance – advertise this show and renew for another season PLEASE!!!!!
I absolutely adored the Quest. The challenges were a combination of strength and wisdom as a true hero should be. The paladins looked for those qualities in their fellow competitors. They recognized when Christian tried to throw the game and rewarded the treachery with banishment. I think it needed to be advertised better and I absolutely crave a second season. If I was younger I would be looking to participate. Please, please someone bring us a second season. True fantasy and fantastic!
Well, I’m not surprised…. It was clean of nudity, language, sex and drama. It was a show with people that were kind and worked together, had a great story, awesome costumes and a totally different and new idea. Of course America wouldn’t like it. Seriously?!?…. We loved it!
Love this show! I so hope they keep it. I started viewing late but haven’t missed an episode since I found it
Please bring it back. My daughter and I love it and watch every episode 2x because there is so much to see. I love the sets, costumes and the unpredictability of it. It’s not a formula show. I think the low ratings are because people watch it in groups and due to the lack of advertising. I never saw it advertised. I found it by accident on Hulu.
