TV show description:
Based on the French TV show Les Revenants, this dramatic series focuses on the small town of Caldwell which is turned upside down when several local residents — who have been believed dead for a long time — suddenly reappear. With them, they bring both positive and detrimental consequences.
As families are reunited, the lives of those who were left behind are challenged on both physical and emotional levels. Interpersonal relationships are examined with intrigue and depth as strange phenomena begin to occur.
Jack Winship (Mark Pellegrino) is a rugged and handsome man with a viscerally painful past. He owns the local tavern called Dog Star. He’s separated from Claire (Tandi Wright) and they are the parents of Lena and Camille (one of the victims).
Claire is currently dating Peter Lattimore (Jeremy Sisto), a psychologist who runs a grief support group for people in the town who are still struggling with the loss of loved ones from the school bus accident four years ago.
Camille Winship (India Ennenga) is a typical self-absorbed teen who was a victim of the bus accident that rocked Caldwell. Her sister Lena (Sophie Lowe) is rebellious and head strong and still struggles with the loss of her sister.
Simon Moran (Mat Vairo) is a good-looking, complex, self-absorbed, and sometimes insensitive young man. After a 10 year absence, Simon has come back to town somewhat confused.
Rowan Blackshaw (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) was Simon’s fiance. She had a very difficult time getting past his death but is now engaged to Tommy Solano (Kevin Alejandro), the town sheriff of Caldwell. She also has a young daughter named Chloe and will do anything to protect her.
Julie Han (Sandrine Holt) is a hardworking and compassionate doctor with no personal life. While coming home from the hospital one night, she sees eight-year-old Victor (Dylan Kingwell) waiting at the bus stop all by himself. She begins to feel responsible for the boy who speaks very little, he was killed 20 years earlier by intruders to murdered the rest of his family.
Tony Darrow (Aaron Douglas) is kind on the surface but harbors a tragic, violent secret. He’s the manager of Jack’s Dog Star tavern. His younger brother is Adam (Rhys Ward), an expert hunter with a dark nature and a complicated family history that he’s struggling to overcome.
Also working at the bar is Lucy McCabe (Leah Gibson), a free-spirited traveler who’s made her own way in the world from a young age. A barmaid and a con-artist, Lucy convinced Jack that she can hear the voice of his dead daughter Camille.
Very smart, Nikki Banks (Agnes Bruckner) is the town’s chief deputy and has a chip on her shoulder. She has a complicated connection with Julie.
Helen Goddard (Michelle Forbes) is searching for a purpose and it leads her to believe the town is cursed. She believes “the returned” are a sign of something evil.
Episode #10 — Peter
Rowan and Tommy’s celebration is overshadowed by a mysterious premonition. Julie makes Victor face his tragic past. Camille realizes that she will never be normal and Helen’s plan meets a mysterious end.
First aired: May 11, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the The Returned TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Can we petition for them to bring it back for another season?
I love this show, I’m sad that they cancel it. They should give shows more than one season.
I am so disappointed with A&E just because your TV ratings weren’t so high with the show The Returned didn’t mean you had to cancel the damn show what about us 1.05 million don’t we mean anythin, I was so damn into this show and then you guys just cancel it this is not fair for us people who enjoyed watching the show!!!!!!! WHERE CAN I WATCH SEASON 2 ?????????
Thank u Vanessa i could not have said it any better, I’m with u on this they could have given it another chance!!! at least another season to see if the ratings rised to their liking.
I agree! I loved that show – that was my Monday night Bates motel and the returned – how can we watch season two ???
They should give it at leat a 2 season to get people interested
This is a very well done show much better than Resurrection please bring it back or Netflix pick this show up for renewal.
Agreed! Waaaaaay better than Resurrection. By the 5th episode, I couldn’t wait for the next, and the next and the next. The scenery was PERFECT and most of the acting was actually WONDERFUL! Bring it back … SOMEONE!
Come on, give The Returned another chance! Love this show!!!
I watched the French version of The Returned “Les Revenants” and have been impatiently waiting for the next season. When the A&E versison started in March, I was curious as whether it would be an English speaking version of the French version or different. Initially, the A&E version was nearly identical to the french, but as the season continued, the plot changed and became more original. The final episode, left more questions than answers.
I for one, would like to see either A&E or another cable channel continue with another season.
Maybe SyFy?
This sucks i was really looking forward to season two, I hate when networks do this s#*t!!!
Great show once I got into a few episodes. By the end I was not wanting it to end. I sure hope it comes back another season. Shows like this NEED to have a proper ending!!! Don’t leave all those mysteries hanging!!!
There is nothing wrong with shows having 10 or 20 episodes and then ending. Every great novel comes to an end. Some shows just aren’t meant to go 7 seasons. Tell a good story in the amount of shows that it it take to tell it. And then give it the ending we deserve.
Keep Keep Keep, it is just getting really good
Please bring a second season. this show is much better than Resurrection. Please do not cancel this series.I love the cast so far and it would be a shame to cancel it now.
My wife and I love this show. PLEASE give us another season!
This show is nearly a duplicate of the French original series…often times dialogue for dialogue and shot for shot in some scenes. Still, its good to be able to enjoy the show without the subtitles. I also feel the casting of the boy who plays “Victor” was excellent, as this kid acts circles around the kid in the French version [which occasionally is run on the Sundance Channel] The original ended at 8 episodes but if A&E can find plausible plot fixes to extend this to another season that’d be just awesome. Good performances all ’round and just the right… Read more »
I enjoy this show i can’t wait to see the next season.
I like this show a lot, I to find my self wanting Monday to be here already especially now that Tommy has shot Simon and than Simon wakes up in the Morgue darn cliff hangers lol. Please A&E dont cancel this show!
I really like the A&E series The Returned. It is much better than the ABC version of the book The Returned which I read. The A&E series seems to be more exciting and more intense than the other station’s program. I hope they bring it back.
I love this show.im always thinking to myself “is it Monday yet?” keep it going!!
I like this show. It has a nice plot line and a creepy kid in it. I like the idea behind it and can’t wait to see where it goes.
How thoughtless to cancel a show right in the middle of it! It makes you feel like making sure you don’t follow any further productions of the same producers.
