On Monday, ABC unveiled their new daytime show, The Revolution, and the ratings were anything but revolutionary. One has to wonder if the execs are second-guessing their decision to cancel One Life to Live.
Per the ratings for Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, The Revolution debuted to a 1.9 rating. That was a drop of 21% from its lead-in which averaged a 2.4 rating. One year earlier, now-cancelled One Life to Live was averaging a 2.3 rating.
For the show’s second airing, The Revolution did even worse — dropping 16% to a 1.6 rating.
While it’s too early to tell if The Revolution will be a flop, this certainly wasn’t a positive start — especially considering Monday was a holiday and more people were home than is typical for a weekday. On the positive side for the network, new series is cheaper to produce than the soap opera that it replaced.
Created by J.D. Roth, sometime TV host and an executive producer on The Biggest Loser, The Revolution is a lifestyle talk show that shows five month personal makeovers in five days. The TV series is hosted by Ty Pennington, Tim Gunn, therapist Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, and exercise guru Harley Pasternak.
What do you think? Have you watched The Revolution? Do you think that it will be a success, even if it doesn’t perform as well as One Life to Live? Could this help save General Hospital?

I have no plans to ever watch the Revolution or the Chew. I want ABC daytime to realize what a huge mistake it was to take off 2 long running Soaps that were loved by so many. I hope both of these shows are huge flops.
PUT THE SOAPS BACK!!!!!!!!!
I go to Fox and watch that now, the news is better then what ABC has on now. ABC has taken all the good show off. if you want rating to go up put OLTO and AMC back. even the evening show you have taken so many good one off to put junk on. (that’s my opinion).
I hope every show that they use to replace AMC and OLTL is a horrible flaming fop! I hate reality TV! Not only have I not watched the new shows, but I have started watching the Today show instead of GMA and I watch Frasier reruns during Kelly’s show usually. When I do tune into her, it’s because I have been a loyal fan of hers since…. You guessed it! Since she was on All My Children!
It is terrible. Its like they threw a bunch of experts together and they came in the middle of the season. We are watching ordinary people transform and fashion tips and health tips. Too scattered. They should have introduced it better. I want One Life to Live. It will never make it.
I WAS a loyal ABC viewer who loved my ABC soaps. Now I have found my remote and am watching other stations a lot more, so ABC lost me for wayyyyyy more than just the soap slots. BIG MISTAKE to remove shows that has lifelong LOYAL viewers!!!!! I don’t care for game shows and if I wanted a food show I would watch PBS Create or the Food Network!!! I saw the previews of the Revolution and knew I was NOT going to watch it. Tim Gunn is a huge turn off to me!! For years I have not subscribed… Read more »
i think they should have left the shows on abc alone, i will not watch abc from 12-2 and if they take of general hospital i swear along with alot of other people i will not watch abc at all
I am glad that the ratings are low, and understand this is hard for me because I love Ty. If it had not been a replacement for my fav. soap I would have watched. ABC needs to realize they are pissing off a large group of people. There are to many self help, news, talkshows already. I do hope is helps save GH. I am so sad to hear it may be on the chopping block. If its chopped I will not watch whatever takes its place. I don’t care how cool it is. It is a conscience form of… Read more »
I’ve posted on the ABC facebook page everyday since All My Children was cancelled. These idiots that cancelled our 2 shows that were watched by millions of viewers should have their heads examined….what a disservice they did to all us loyal viewers of the best SOAPS on TV…the morons on the Chew are sickening and the Revolution was just as bad…I refuse to watch ABC…We all should have know what idiots they were when they took off our great shows, put on Chew, Revolution and that stupid Pan Am show….duh.. Hopefully someone will get on the ball and give us… Read more »
Terrible replacements for much loved shows. I now clean when AMC used to be on, and watch “The Talk” on CBS when OLTL used to be on, ABC, you blew it on this one!
I no longer watch ABC and won’t until they put All My Children and One Life to Live back on. It really doesn’t matter what the ratings are because The Chew has low ratings and because of the response of fans when All My Children was canceled, they refuse to respond to the low ratings on the Chew. ABC is going to wait until it is too late to bring back the shows so many want back on, which means that ABC may be the next cancellation.
I will never watch the new show Revolution. How ridiculous to have The View, Rachael Ray, The Chew then this new Revolution all in a row. To much. I was an avid fan of AMC and OLTL for over 35 years and these reality shows are getting out of hand. I do not watch ABC anymore during daytime hours. Hate what you have done!!!
i want one life to live back im tried of watching divorce court at 1.00 aclock
Won’t watch either show and won’t watch abc. Have never done this before, but felt if i did nothing i couldn’t complain. It was 2 hours out of my day where i could just enjoy tv. Not be told what to think, cook, look like etc….
Have not watched it and NEVER will. It was a mistake for ABC to can “one life to live” it won’t matter what you put in the one life to live time slot I won’t watch it. Please bring our soap back.
I will not watch channel 7 again since they cancalled One Life To Live. Bring our beloved soap back.
I will never watch it, I won’t watch anything on ABC in that time slot that One Life To Live was on. I think they will regret cancelling the soap. I hope the show fails, to much dang talk on television today, thats all they do is talk all over each other.
