NBC is billing The Slap as a mini-series so it doesn’t seem like there’s any danger of the series being cancelled. However, if the ratings are bad enough, they could certainly pull it before all eight episodes have aired. Conversely, if the ratings are really good, they could figure out a way to bring the characters back for a second season. What will happen? Stay tuned.
On The Slap TV show, a birthday celebration comes to an abrupt halt when a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child. It’s a small action that ends up deeply affecting all involved. The cast for the mini-series includes Peter Sarsgaard, Thandie Newton, Uma Thurman, Makenzie Leigh, Zachary Quinto, Dylan Schombing, Thomas Sadoski, Melissa George, Brian Cox, Lucas Hedges, Maria Tucci, Marin Ireland, and Penn Badgley.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/5 update: Should NBC pull this mini-series from Thursday nights?
4/3 update: NBC has confirmed that there won’t be a second season of The Slap.
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.62 million total viewers.

Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Slap TV series? Would you like to see the characters return for a second season somehow? Should NBC pull it before all eight episodes have aired?
I really enjoyed The Slap. I wish that the show would come back because there aren’t very many good shows on regular tv and I thought The Slap was a good show. Everytime I find a show of interest it’s cancelled. I can’t afford cable therefore I’m stuck watching regular tv. BRING BACK THE SLAP! I don’t blame the guy for slapping that kid, I would have SLAPPED him too!
LOVED the show. Clever! Did not hear about while the season was running. Only after. Poor job promoting the show. That was the issue for poor ratings. Please reconsider bringing on another season. and this time promote it so people know it’s on!
Please….when is The Slap returning??? i have been waiting! I loved it. Thanks!
