The Tonight Show is far from cancelled. In fact, Jimmy Fallon’s run on the late night NBC talk show has brought it new life. However, Jay Leno ran that show for many years successfully, and he is returning to television today with a new show on CNBC called Jay Leno’s Garage.
This means he had to take the time to remind his fans he is still alive and kicking, and he is ready for a new challenge.
On Tuesday night, he stopped by to take over for Jimmy during The Tonight Show’s opening monologue. His appearance is now the talk of the town this morning.
As for Jay Leno’s Garage, the series will air on CNBC later tonight at 10 p.m. Leno has been out promoting the new series. However, he has been asked about The Tonight Show and his rivalry with David Letterman.
Ad Week asked him about his decision to not stop by The Late Show when Letterman aired his final show in May. He was candid about his answer.
“I asked Dave to do a 10-second tape for us [when I left]. Anything, just, ‘Leno who?’ They said no, they didn’t want to do it. Well, why am I going to run all the way to New York? I mean, quid pro quo. I just said, ‘No, that’s kind of silly.”
It appears that late night rivalry is still alive and well too. Were you surprised by Jay Leno’s appearance on The Tonight Show? Tell us what you think.
