Kat Graham is in her seventh season as witch Bonnie Bennett on The Vampire Diaries TV series. At the January 6, 2016 People’s Choice Awards, Graham said she thinks it might be good to end The Vampire Diaries at seven seasons. Watch her interview, below.
Even though co-star Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) left The Vampire Diaries after season six, co-creator Julie Plec recently said she will continue the show, as long as Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder want to. Graham feels somewhat differently.
Speaking of Somerhalder and the People’s Choice Awards, when he reminded his Instagram followers to vote for him, his post suggested this season might be the end of The Vampire Diaries. Check it out:
The CW is moving The Vampire Diaries from its six and a half season Thursday night slot, to Fridays. Network president, Mark Pedowitz says that move is not to exile The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, The Originals. It is meant to build up Friday nights. Read our story.
In its seventh season, and the first without Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries ratings are somewhat anemic.
As of the December 10th episode (the last before winter hiatus), the show had a season average rating of a 0.56 in the 18-49 demographic, and a average total audience of 1.178 million viewers.
The sixth season of The Vampire Diaries averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic, with an average of 1.54 million total viewers.
As for Graham’s comments about ending The Vampire Diaries after its seventh season, here is what she said:
I think that it could be the right time, yes. I think that it’s important to go out when the show is strong and I think it’s important to see characters storylines’ through. And you know what? If it was the last season, I would still be thrilled because seven years on a show is a beautiful journey.
And I still remain close with the writers and Julie Plec, and the cast. And you know, it’s important for actors not to be in the same thing for years and years and years and years. When there’s a story to tell, you tell it. When there’s not, you close the door and open up another book, and start that story.
Hear it from the lady, herself:
A model, singer, and dancer, as well as an actress, Graham has recently been cast as Jada Pinkett Smith, in the Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez on Me.
Do you agree with Graham or with Plec? Should The CW cancel The Vampire Diaries TV show after the seventh season, or renew it for an eighth? If they keep making the show, will you keep tuning in? Sound off, in the comments.
I agree with plec. People seem to forget that its is ranging into an adult series thats undeniable however internet tv has pretty much outdone cable. and even though dobrev was a vital part of the show. She isnt the only storyline. I think somerhaulder cpild definatly carry the show with the rest of the cast.
I think there are so many ways that TVD can go on. There are so many plot lines that can be used to make the show fresh and exciting as long as Ian and Paul stay on cast. Nina was not the reason this show was so great in my eyes, it was the creative plots and primarily Ian’s and Paul’s past, present & future that makes it so great. I say, “keep up the good work” to Julie Plec & cast and to let Kat and whomever else who may want to leave, leave. Just add more talented actors… Read more »
I liked The Vampire Diaries and The Originals when the characters were all in one show. I SO wanted Caroline and Klaus to get together as a couple =D
I liked The Vampire Diaries and the Originals cast when they were all together better, in one show. I SO wanted Caroline and Klaus together
Pretty sure this is the last season I’ll be watching whether they renew it or not. I’ll probably watch the finale to see how they end things but thats it.
I think now would be a good time to end it. I feel like the actors want to move on to more serious roles and the plot lines just haven’t been that good, which isn’t their fault necessarily. There is just so much you can do with this kind of show.
God I hope it’s not the end for either series, I love them both. I want both to continue on and I will watch them forever. I’m on tenderhooks waiting for the renewals (fingers crossed).
I think there are strong hints this is it both kat and ian have hinted at that also the fact JP said she will end it when ian and paul wants and isn’t worried about the CW seems strange since they decide who is cancelled or not unless the decision has already been made. This is the exact opposite kat said last year when she said bonnie still had a story to tell it does seem she is done. It looks like right now they are using crossovers to boost the ratings of the originals but i can’t see another… Read more »
I think you are likely right, Hallie. Thank you for reading and for commenting.
I think it must be end at the 8th season, and then the rest of the cast join or special guest start crossover on The Originals
No
I think the Vampire Diaries is still great and I anticipate the future storylines
Screw “Plec”. I don’t know why Kat likes her or if she really does.
