As fans of The Whispers know, the first season of the ABC summer series ended on a major cliffhanger. Several of the characters, including little Minx and Claire, were abducted without a trace.
On The Whispers, several Washington, DC children start talking about and playing with an imaginary friend. When their mysterious games turn dangerous, FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan (Lily Rabe) is called in to investigate. The rest of the cast includes Barry Sloane, Milo Ventimiglia, Derek Webster, Kristen Connolly, Kylie Rogers, and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf.
Unfortunately, the Monday night series drew very poor ratings and the network cancelled it, deciding not to make a second season.
Fans and members of the cast have expressed their disappointment over the cancellation. Recently, Sloane took to Twitter to offer a light-hearted bit of closure for the fans.

What do you think? Will you miss The Whispers TV show? Would you like to know what would have happened in season two?
Really bummed out that this isn’t coming back – we were all wrapped up in it last season and couldn’t wait to see how it turned out. Except now it never will. Boooo to you, ABC. You’ll give far less fare more attention than something original such as this. TV is so hellishly boring. The few bright spots, such as this show, are greatly enjoyed by the devoted audience that yearns for something different instead of more of the same, more of the same, more of the same. Oh well. The TV will just stay turned off. 🙂
Yes I want to know what would have happened. For crying out loud people, QUIT CANCELING GOOD SHOWS!!!!!!!
It would be wonderful to see any other network pick it up BUT the downside is all of those kids have already grown significantly since when this was filmed in 2014. Might make it too weird, ya know? Eh. Turning the page and moving on.
I was checking to see when the Whispers was coming back as a summer replacement series. It’s not coming back? Low ratings? It’s a summertime show, it was bound to have low ratings. It was such a great show – with an original storyline (which is so rare). I loved the cliffhanger ending, until now…. Claire and Minx will be lost forever in space with no resolution.
My husband and I loved the show and are very disappointed in its cancellation.
This was such a great show. My daughter and I watched it together and were so looking forward to season 2. Hate that ABC chose to cancel this show before it could even become truly popular.
come on guys this show could have picked up so many viewers during a second season. You gave up too quick. I was always at the edge of my seat. Gonna miss seeing Milo, he played an amazing part. Rip to a great show
I Personally Loved The Whispers And I’m Very Upset Now Knowing That There Won’t Be A Second Season Especially Since The Ending Was So Mysterious. I Want To Know What Happened To Minx And Claire! #BringBackTheWispers
I too came looking for when the season was starting up again and saw it was cancelled. That’s disappointing. I really enjoyed the show.
I just came here to see when the next season starts and I’m sad to see it has been cancelled. I really enjoyed it. Now I’ll never know what happened.
I am very dissapointed .ABC needs to get this back.i need closure on what happens to little Minx and the other children.Drill’s friends need to pay.
I came to see when the next season came out… Only to find it was cancelled . I am so disappointed! This was a. Great show I loved it and Barry Sloane was one of my favorite revengers. So disappointed .
To me and a lot of friends, it’s a very sad choice to end the series, we i thought they could they could bring it to an proper ending on tv on demand, or online videorentalstores like for example videoland in Holland ! And i thought there is a pilot to see if tv series are a no or a go. Anyway if you pull more stunts like this, you’re gonna loose a lot of viewers, even when you’re FOXCHANNEL and i really love a lot of FOX-series but they can’t use the succes of the walking dead as a… Read more »
I agree with Matt Grayson and Jerry Kramer. Even if the show doesn’t make the grade for the producers, you could at least be courteous and caring enough to give the viewers who do watch the satisfaction of a proper ending.
We really liked the whispers. Most of our family loved the show. Should reconsider renewal.
I’m disappointed that it was canceled. Too many series I enjoy seem to get canceled & leave you hanging. They should have a way to end it with answers not a cliffhanger if it is to be cancelled.
