Thursday , October 4, 2012 ratings — Last night saw the kick off of 30 Rock’s final season, The Next’s finale, and new episodes of Glee, The X Factor, Last Resort, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Person of Interest, Elementary, Up All Night, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Rock Center with Brian Williams.
On CBS, The Big Bang Theory won the night in both the 18-49 demo and viewer categories with a 4.9 rating (-2% week-to-week) and 15.38 million. Two and a Half Men followed with a 3.7 rating (+6%) with 12.67 million.
The sitcoms were followed by Person of Interest, which drew a 3.1 rating (+7%) and 14.63 million. At 10pm, it was the second episode of Elementary. That dropped 16% in the demo to a 2.6 rating with 11.22 million. It really should be doing better considering it’s competition.
On ABC, the second installment of Last Resort dropped 14% in the demo, to a 1.9 rating with 7.87 million viewers. Not good.
Grey’s Anatomy followed with a 3.8 rating (-14%) and 10.56 million. At 10pm, it was the second episode of the second season of Scandal, once again registering a 2.1 in the demo with 6.96 million viewers.
On FOX, The X Factor was down slightly with a 3.1 rating (-3% week-to-week) and 9.14 million. After seeing their show decline week after week, there was positive news for the “Gleeks.” Glee drew a 2.6 demo rating (up 8%) with 6.21 million viewers.
On NBC, we had the return of 30 Rock with a 1.3 rating and 3.4 million viewers. Season-to-season, the sitcom was down by 28% in the demo (vs a 1.8 rating) and down by 32% in viewership (vs 4.47 million). It’s hard to argue with NBC’s decision to end the series.
That was followed by Up All Night with a 1.4 rating (0% week-to-week change) and 3.08 million and The Office with 2.1 rating (0% change) and 4.11 million.
Parks and Recreation got a nice boost this week, rising 19% to a 1.9 demo rating with 3.53 million. Rock Center with Brian Williams followed with a 1.1 rating (+38%) and 3.39 million.
And finally, on The CW, it was the two hour (series or season) finale of The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep. The first hour drew a 0.3 rating (0% change) and 0.9 million viewers while the second attracted a 0.3 rating and 1.0 million viewers.
What do you think? Are you surprised by the declines of Last Resort and Elementary? How about the slow start for 30 Rock? What were you watching last night?

SCANDAL is the best of the lot! Fast-paced, twists, curves, etc. It’s awesome but dont blink! You can never go wrong with Big Bang and Sheldon who by the way, is NOT crazy because his mother had him tested. Can’t get into Two and a Half anymore. Only watch it until Person of Interest comes on.
