Would the life of police officer Allison McLean get a little less hectic in season two of the Ties The Bind TV show? We’ll never know. UP has cancelled the drama after one season of 10 episodes.
This dramatic series revolves around a tough and experienced female police officer from Seattle, played by Kelli Williams. Like most working women, Allison McLean’s hands are already full, balancing a demanding and dangerous job and a family — husband Matt (Jonathan Scarfe), and teenagers Jeff (Mitchell Kummen) and Rachel (Natasha Calis). She and her partner, Devin (Dion Johnstone), must arrest her brother, Tim (Luke Perry), for aggravated assault. As a result, her world drastically changes. The rest of the cast includes Matreya Scarrwener, Rhys Matthew Bond, Lucia Walters, and Aaron Craven.
The series debuted in August 2015 and the 10 episodes finished airing in October. The cable channel was apparently considering ordering a second season but earlier this year, they decided not to do so. A message on the show’s Facebook page notes:
After thoughtful consideration, UP has decided to not renew “Ties That Bind.” The decision was not made lightly as we appreciate our passionate viewers who were not ready for the story to end. We want to thank the cast and crew for their tremendous dedication. Your commitment to this series was extraordinary.
What do you think? Did you enjoy this cop drama? Should it have been cancelled? Would you have watched a second season of Ties That Bind on UP?
This was a family friendly show with real situations and realistic steps to resolve issues. It is too bad the network did not recognize these gems.
Ties that Bind was for sure an attractive show, it was so addicting to watch it. This show really helped me and I was expecting the more seasons to come, why would you put something up and not even finish it. Just leave everyone like that. Because this was really good. It helped with dealing with how to handle a family and teenagers the right way. She was a very good example. Do devastaing to know it stopped, if you would keep letting it go that would be a miracle. Good luck. Thanks to the dedicated actors though. Hope you… Read more »

I really enjoyed the show. Please bring season to back
The series should be renewed! Excellent life lessons and the actors have really begun to develop their characters. It would do so much for the TV viewers! Please renew the “Ties that Bind” to allow us to view loving, compassionate, forgiving families and their inner machinations affecting the outside world. We need lessons on forgiveness, love, kindness, understanding and compassionate healing!!
Thank you.

I agree. This was a great series depicting forgiveness and love. Also great parenting skills. I wish they would bring this series back.
Yes exactly, everything you said was true about Ties That Bind and I hope they realize that. Or at least explain why it was canceled.
Please bring it back
I am so upset about this. I love this show. It is one of the best I have ever seen. Why mess this up? How can we get it back. Every time we get something good the networks just screw it all up.
I just found this series on Pureflix and thought I had finally found a cop/detective show that I could watch with my kids and feel like they are seeing more than they should. I loved the family values that it presented. Most shows these days never show a family with 2 parents that still love one another, with children that generally make good decisions, and that you help even when it is difficult and not convenient to you. My children are disappointed that it didn’t continue. To not at least wrap some of the story lines in a couple of… Read more »
This show never should have been cancelled. Why do all shows that are created around family and family values get cancelled?
I am disappointed you are not doing more of this series. It is very good and addresses many day to day issues that are important in this world. It is very close to being as good a Heartland one of my favorite shows on TV. I wish you would reconsider your decision
I just found this series and watched it not knowing that it was going to end with so many loose ends. It is disappointing as a fan to see a show end, but when a producer creates a show and builds a fan base, the least they can do is fulfill their moral contract not to leave fans in the lurch. I understand the costs of a last wrap up episode may not be budget-able, but at least they could release a written synopsis for the fans tying up loos ends and giving closure. Very disappointing, to many networks do… Read more »
I agree. I just found this series myself and I was hooked from the first show. Maybe Netflix should pick up this show and produce it.
So sad and disappointed. A decent show on tv that taught ethics, morals, importance of family, and more should not have been cancelled. It is very difficult to find enjoyable television programs these days, where you don’t have to be subjected to swearing, drugs, alcohol, partner choices, etc. it would be great if you would reconsider bringing back the great show of Ties That Bind. Thank you for your time.
I am so disappointed that there will not be a series 2 because this was a great show. I really wish you would reconsider.
Why? Why? This show was so good.
