Last May, NBC announced that it would be adding two new medical shows. Trauma would begin airing in the Fall and Mercy would come in early 2010. That plan got messed up when production on Parenthood, another new show, was delayed, and Mercy was brought in early to take its place.
With two new medical dramas on the network, many suspected there was going to be one too many. A few months later, one is struggling to survive and the other has been effectively cancelled.
Trauma revolves around a group of first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The drama has had problems attracting viewers from the beginning. Its premiere only attracted 6.68 million viewers and a 2.2/5 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The following week, the numbers sank to 5.36 million and a 1.7/4. The numbers have been rising slowly since then but not by much. Monday’s episode hit a post-premiere high of 5.77 million and a 1.9/5, putting the show in fourth place for the timeslot.
To no surprise, NBC has decided not to order additional episodes of Trauma. While all 13 episodes of the series will be aired, the network won’t be ordering any more. It’s unknown if the cast and crew will be able to give the show any closure by the last episode.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Trauma is ending or should it have been cancelled awhile ago?
UPDATE: Trauma returning with new episodes.

I found the show Trauma to be a very exciting and a show you look forward to every week. I am a Emergency Dispatcher and unfortunately I had to DVR the show as I work Monday nights. I hope that NBC or another network will bring this show back. This is a good quality show that many people watched. If I was able to watch it when it aired on Monday nights I would have. If the ratings were not high enough for the networks, how about changing the days its on. Wednesdays and Thursdays there is nothing on TV.… Read more »
I think it is rediculous that they finally come out with a good show and replace it with some crappy tv show. There wasn’t anything wrong with the trauma show. People who dont like it had how many other channels to watch while its on. I am in the medical field as an EMT and going for my paramedic soon, this is a bunch of bull. I hate it when the wrong people put there hands in the bucket. I honestly think people should watch it because there are too many dumb americans who cant even do something as simple… Read more »
I was sooo disappointed to see that TRAUMA was cancelled… It was my favorite show! Something must be wrong with the statistics – cause i know so many who watched it? And we are all equally surprised… Very disappointing…
they need to bring trauma back!! its the best show ever and it is what i look forward to seeing on TV. please bring it back!
I love this show. I did not know it had been canceled. I have been waiting for ads about the new season and have not seen any so thought I should check it out.
PLEASE bring it back.
Miss the Show! The show was not only interesting, pretty much realistic, suspenseful and just an all around good show to watch. My passion is Law Enforcement but this show really hit the spot and was a good show to watch! BRING IT BACK or Make it an online Series!
i love this show why is it that all the good shows get cancelled bring it back
We’re sick of all the redundant crap that’s on tv. We want Trauma back. It’s the only show that reveals a realistic look at what these EMTs go through every day. It’s entertainingly gritty and fun to watch. How many more Cop, Hospital, Lawyer and CSI shows do we really need??? NEED I SAY MORE???
This show was the best…bring it back!!!!!
This is a great show. Please bring it back. The characters are deep and interesting and the jam-packed action of the show is nothing short of the highest quality available. Please bring it back.
i definitely agree. i love Trauma.
I love this show bring it back please !!!!!!!!
Put the show back, this is the time for it
BRING THIS SHOW BACK. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST MEDICAL SHOWS ON TV.
I don’t like it a bit that Trauma aint coming back on….I don’t watch alot of tv but i did watch that every week…I think that you should put it back on the air and take mercy off…I haven’t even hurd of that show nor do i wont to watch it….You already took ER off so please but Tramua back on….
these people at NBC have no idea what the hell they are doing. Pre-hospital health care is often overlooked and plays a vital role in our everyday life. it was the only NBC show that i would ever watch. i will hate NBC and will not watch another NBC show until they bring Trauma back.
