Tyrant is the story of an unassuming American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner), the youngest son of a war-torn country’s controversial dictator, returns to his homeland after a self-imposed 20-year exile in America, only to be forced back into the treacherous familial and national politics of his youth. When his brother, Jamal (Ashraf Barhom), assumes the presidency, Barry becomes a powerful force within the government, fueled by visions of bringing humanitarian freedoms to his homeland. Upon realizing that Jamal lacks any sense of justice or morality, Barry colluded with members of the U.S. government on a failed attempt at overthrowing his tyrannical reign and was arrested on charges of treason. Having been betrayed by the West, Jamal now sets his sights on the East, developing an alliance with China that he hopes will make Abuddin a global power. But Barry continues to be a thorn in Jamal’s side, becoming a symbol of freedom for the increasingly vocal insurgency.

HOORAY! One of the best series on FX!
This show is really dumbing it down with a naive and silly American family caught in a ridiculous fantasy of a Middle Eastern dictatorship. Avoid at all cost. “Homeland” is infinitely better.
So VERY glad this show has been renewed. It is one of the best shows I have ever viewed,
This is one of those great shows that come along to seldom. So glad it’s renewed for season 3! Can’t wait for the brothers modern day battle for the throne!
GREAT SHOW!!! Please PLEASE bring back Jamal (Ashraf Barhom). He is the Tony Soprano of your show and the engine that makes Tyrant so captivating.
Yes, I know he was gunned down but PLEASE have him miraculously survive.
His speech was incredible and I thought that even though he has ruined many people’s lives that he could and should be brought back into the storyline somehow. I hope this can be done.
GREAT SHOW!!!
Yeah!!!
Tyrant returns.
But will Jamal ?
I hope he wasn’t really,really assassinated
Surely they will not do that to those of us who love him.
Emmy nomination for Ashraf Barhom.
I absolutely love this series and I am thrilled it has been renewed for a third season.
It is so exciting and such a well-done series and seems so authentic. Great news.
Very excited. We love Tyrant. One of the best series ever!! Can’t wait for the 3rd season
Oh I’m so glad Tyrant will be returning for another season. I love the story and all the actors portraying the various characters. Especially Ashraf Barhom who plays plays Jamal and Moran Atias who plays his lovely wife whom I hope will be more effective as a powerful woman in the forthcoming season. I also like Alexander Karim who plays the misguided terrorist. Adam Rayner was just a super good-looking guy in the first season. Now, less good looking and more rugged in appearance with the second season, I like his leading role character more.
I am pleased that Tyrant has been renewed; it’s one my favorite shows.
This should be required viewing at some scholastic level. TYRANT has enlightened me on the issues that plague the region. FX just does that with their programming, like THE AMERICANS. TYRANT is the fastest hour on TV & we’re like, “Darn, we have to wait till next week.” Glad to see posts from other fans…
Yes! One of my favourite shows! I’ve been obsessively checking for updates on its status since the finale! Thank you FX!!!
When I watched, in the beginning, I was sort of uncomfortable with it, but it has become an excellent show. The bad guy Tyrant, Jamal, played by Ashraf Barhom deserves an Emmy, Oscar or whatever they are handing out for excellence. He is truly a gifted act or. Glad the show is coming back.
Great news! Tyrant is the best show most people are not watching. Perhaps they don’t think they’d be interested in a story about an Arabian despot. Think again! Story lines pulled right from the international news about the Caliphate and struggles for democracy in Middle Eastern countries, with an American family caught up in the middle of it. Characters you love to love and love to hate, unbelievable plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat and peeking through your fingers, great acting, directing, writing, and cinematography. TV at its gripping best. (And no, I don’t work… Read more »
