Move over Outlaw, NBC has cancelled another new series. The spy dramedy Undercovers is ending its run after 13 episodes.
Undercovers revolves around a married pair of former spies who are pulled back into service after their close friend goes missing. The TV show features the talents of Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz.
The series stumbled right out of the gate and attracted a disappointing 2.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million viewers. In week two, the demo fell by 24% to a 1.6 rating and the numbers essentially kept on falling. Last night’s episode hit a new demo low with a 1.3 rating and 5.913 million total viewers.
Though NBC ordered four additional scripts in mid-October, the studio suspected that that show’s been doomed for quite awhile. Today, the network made it official — Undercovers has been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if fans of the series will get to see all 13 installments. Seven episodes have aired so far and three more are scheduled for November 10th, November 17th, and December 1st. NBC has a Shrek holiday special scheduled for Thanksgiving eve (November 24th) and The Sing-Off will take over the timeslot on December 8th.
Three episodes of Undercovers will be left on the shelf at that point and the network will decide at a later date if or when they’ll air.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Undercovers is coming to an end? Why do you think it didn’t catch on? How would you have fixed it?

I am very disappointed that Undercovers has been cancelled. I looked for it last nigh and was unaware that it had been cancelled. It’s a shame that shows portraying intelligent, strong, and a lovable adult couple is cancelled. It’ s a sad day in America that only explicit sex, drug use, gangs, and graphic violence stays on T.V. The violence and explicit sex, in the general society, can be changed if we change the programs piped into homes daily. Shame on NBC for following the pack and not setting a new direction and tone for America primetime television. Oprah Winfrey… Read more »
Undercovers is an amazing show. I understand that NBC is in the business of generating ratings and Undercovers is not delivering at this time. I believe that the show will be able to turn things around, if given the chance. Undercovers has a fantastic and solid cast with power house producers, seems like they have the right fomula. I will be sure to wathch the remaining episodes. NBC, next time you are presented with a great show give it to another network, becouse you will just screw it up.
P.S. tell Conan I said Hi!!
Well, its great to see two experts like Mark and Greg. They are probally two idiot that voted for the non-dancing Palin on Dancing With The Stars. Clearly, these are the only type shows that amuse them and the others that refuse to watch any show that might require some thinking. Thanks NBC! With viewers like these, and you canceling anything that resembles a good show, no wonder you’re failing.
This is very disheartening, I was tuned in and ready to sit back and watch this for a few years. I enjoy the whole story line and here I am reading it’s canceled. One thing I would have done differently was put it on a TV station that actually gives a damn about the public’s opinion. I am a huge fan of the storyline and now I’m heartbroken that I can’t see anymore of this story develop. It’s like reading a book and ripping the book in half and taking the chance of developing, meeting, and introducing a story to… Read more »
I am very disapointed because it ended with a huge cliff hanger and couldn’t they just finish the series….What the HELL?
I am disappointed that hear that Undercovers had been cancelled. I had just started watching it and have really been enjoying it. They are a beautiful couple and I will
really miss it. Maybe you can reconsider the cancellation.
I am sorry to see it go also. It was a decent show that was improving with each episode. I was initially very surprised and pleased that NBC was doing a show starring minorities but I guess I am not too surprised that NBC is cancelling the show.
Nbc has got to be kidding I never watched the nbc network shows until undercovers joined the lineup I guess ill watched what I’ve recorded on my dvr ithink they need to cancel the singoff !!! Bring Back the show!
I agree w/ you jacky, niether did i watch NBC’s ****** station until i saw this show will be on. SO MADD AT NBC RIGHT NOW !
I am so mad that it got xo! I luv this show! This is the only show I watch on channel 4! They really played there selves! I’m soo mad!!!! I hope another net work pick them up! Bc I think it was coming on a different channel on sat’s. – don’t like channel 4 no more!!! 🙁
Mark, I couldn’t agree more! This show was an over acted mashup of cheesy lines, explosions, and absurd situations.
There’s another thread going on that claims one of the NBC insiders says the only reason it got to 13 episodes was some sort of Affirmative Action.
Disgusting.
Good. Rarely have I seen “actors” as smug and full of themselves as Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Even their names are smug. Why did NBC have to go to two foreign countries to get leads for their new show? Don’t we have enough qualified people on our own soil? That summer trailer was nauseating enough – Gugu falling on Boris’ nude body, mouths stabbing at each other like hungry animals, the stupid song “Ambalaya” (or whatever it is) going in the background. Yuch!
I am so sick of NBC”s bull…….evry show that airs gets cancelled. But all the animated crap stays and we wind up watching reruns of Friends, will and grace, or two and a half men……NBC you suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another discusting read. I don’t why I get hooked on new shows that debut. I usually get disappionted in the end because the shows that I like are cancelled. I liked it. It had two good black actors along with adventure around the world. What is wrong with NBC? They don’t give shows a chance. Hey! At least I’ll have more time to do something else instead of watching the show after that one. That’s the one that should be cancelled.
Very disappointed that “Undercovers” has been cancelled. I agreed with other viewers, if it doesn’t have foul language, violence, or nudity it doesn’t seem to make it. The only thing left to watch is So you think you can dance, American Idol, America’s got Talent and Dancing with the Stars. Its time for America to pick up a good book!
I really disappointed in NBC again for cancelling a really good and clean show. Unless a series does not have nudity, raunchiness and cursing, it does not survive on prime time television. How sad. I thoght finally, 2 good looking minority on primetime and again I am disappointed. I got disappointed when they cancelled Lipstick Jungle and now this. It seems like I need to take my viewing elsewhere. THANKS ALOIT NBC FOR NOTHING.
