In March, CBS handed down a lot of early renewals for next season. The network is doing very well so there weren’t any surprises in the bunch. One show that wasn’t mentioned was Unforgettable. Does this series have a chance at being renewed or is it doomed to be cancelled?
Unforgettable revolves around Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a woman who has an incredible memory. She can recall every place, day, and conversation that she’s ever had — except some key details of the day her sister died and it haunts her. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Walsh, Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin and Daya Vaidya.
The show debuted last September to a 2.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 14.09 million total viewers. Over the course of the hour, 13% of the viewers who started watching the premiere tuned out before it was finished. That’s not a great sign but still, Unforgettable easily won its timeslot, airing opposite two established shows; ABC’s Body of Proof and NBC’s Parenthood.
In week two, Unforgettable not surprisingly dropped 14% in the demo. It was still doing quite well and ended up getting a full season pickup. Over the course of the season however, the ratings have dwindled downward. The latest episode registered a 1.8 demo rating and 10.66 million viewers.

While Unforgettable’s total viewership is still impressive, the demo is not. CBS shows tend to skew older and the network has many shows that get a better demo with more viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, Unforgettable gets a “D+” for its relative demo rating.
If CBS weren’t doing as well as it is, Unforgettable would probably get a renewal. That’s not the case and, coupled with the fact that the show’s ratings have been slipping, it looks very likely that the show will be cancelled instead.
CBS has already renewed most of their current shows for next season and they realistically need the rest of the timeslots to try new programming. In addition, it looks like CBS is going to try a two-hour block of sitcoms on Thursday nights so that will leave one fewer hour for dramas.
It’s really competitive to find a spot of the CBS schedule and it would seem that Unforgettable just hasn’t measured up.

I defintely think it should be renewed . it is a mistake not to give the viewrs a second season of this show,

As a CBS Stockholder I vote to renew it. Its a good show and employs alot of Extras in New York. We can work on the night it could compete better. I felt the ratings were rising. You throw repeats against other stations newer shows and we lose. Let me see which pilots CBS picks up and who were up against on NBC and ABC and we will compete Give this show another chance at least shows up to Jan 2013.
Unforgettable should definitely be renewed. I love it. I think it’s one of the best shows on TV right now. I usually don’t watch TV during the week but this season I watched every episode of Unforgettable on Tuesdays 10 pm because I just couldn’t wait for the weekend to watch it…the whole cast did a great job during the whole seasons and especially Poppy, Dylan and Jane Curtin were incredible. So CBS must renew this show…Please Please Please

Cancellation is not an option – don’t blow off 11 million people for shows that are stupid with a smaller draw in viewers, Show some class please.

Wouldn’t miss one episode. The Best tv has to offer. Unpredictable and cast is stellar – esp Carrie (and Al) Like the forensic Jane Curtain and kooky girl who does forensic type work and has a crush on Roe. The Best show on TV – it will have a long run!
Finally, TV has produced good shows such as Unforgettable, Person of Interest, Gifted Man, all the CSI and Blue Bloods and the new NYC 22, Rules of Engagement, Big Bang Theory and a few others and you have to mess it up by deleting some of them. Whomever makes these decisions either doesn’t care about the real viewing public or is getting paid big bucks to put garbage on and keep good quality shows off after giving the public a glimpse of them. What a shame.
Cancel it. Bad writing, bad acting (poppy is horribly cast), and the loss of a good supporting cast. The season end n Syracuse was horrible. Syracuse USA is a city of over 200 million and a modern police force they made it look like the sticks. Let it go as a nice try gone bad.
Fingers are crossed CBS renews this great show! Unforgettable is not a run-of-the-mill cop drama — that’s why it holds one’s interest. Viewers should give it a chance and so should CBS. Wish they’d rethink turning Thursday nights into an evening of sticoms. Not many fuuny or entertaining sitcoms on TV these days.
This show has a unique premise, very strong acting and good writing. CBS ought to consider a different time slot and an ensemble cast with an admixture of actors from Person of Interest. That will likely increase viewership.
Love this show and would actually like to see them keep things normal for a while!! Keep Unforgettable please!!!
It must must must be renewed. I am absolutely in love with the show and you can’t end a show on how it did last night. Its something new that we have never seen in a police show and I would love to see more. Also I am in love with Carrie, she is fantastic. Please CBS do NOT get rid of this show.
Please renew ATLEAST for a few episodes so we find out who killed her sister and then u can wrap it up but don’t leave us hanging
It should definitely be renewed! Is Nielson Ratings counting the online viewership? I rarely watch anything on TV anymore; I almost always watch it on the net.
Please do not cancel this show!! I look forward to it every week and the actors as well as the plots are good. I’ve even gotten my husband to watch it, which is quite an achievement, believe me. This is a great show; keep it on!!
