It turns out that Unforgettable didn’t live up to its name. CBS has cancelled the police drama after one season on the air.
The TV series revolves around Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a female police detective with an unusually detailed memory (hyperthymesia) that helps her solve crimes. The cast also includes Dylan Walsh, Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin, and Daya Vaidya.
Unforgettable started out the season with a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 14.09 million total viewers. Over the course of the season, the drama’s ratings declined. At the end of the season, they fell as low as a 1.8 demo rating with 9.45 million viewers.

The season ended up averaging a 2.3 rating in the demo with 11.3 million viewers. While the total number of viewers is impressive, the demo number (and its decline) is not. CBS already has several other shows that deliver lots of viewers but the advertisers gravitate towards the younger demo.
On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Unforgettable has a “C-” grade and is #15 on the list of CBS scripted shows.
If CBS wasn’t doing as well as they are, Unforgettable might have been renewed for a second season but, as it is, CBS cancelled the show instead.
What do you think? Are you going to miss Unforgettable? What made it unique? How does it compare to the other crime dramas on the network?
Pretty standard for the so called major networks to cance great programming like forgettable and keep crap. I have basically stopped watching most new shows as these networks can’t be trusted.
I really like this show and like many shows that ‘almost’ got cancelled, this show should have been given a second season. It just needs to find its niche! Some shows take a little more time, but are well worth taking the chance.
This would be a good opportunity for another network to pick up a show that averages over 10 million viewers per week. If they played it at 8 or 9pm rather than 10pm, I believe that it would have attracted even more viewers. That is just simple math. As for the show, it was very interesting and I looked forward to watching it every week.
I am truly disappointed that they cancelled this series. There are so many shows on which I do not watch because they stink, frankly and this one was really good. Why keep One and a Half Men? Awful, tasteless show. I can’t even watch it. It is so badly conceived and written. CBS Wake Up. Also cancelled CSI Miami….love Dave Caruso….what a bunch of jerks at CBS.
My wife and I loved the show. We are sorry it is being cancelled.
I can’t believe Unforgettable is being cancelled. My favourite new show in a long time!! And CSI Miami was running for TEN YEARS!!!!!
Unbelievable! You people continue to cancel good, interesting shows and continue adding all these ridiculous game and reality shows. You are going to force all the people with a functioning brain to watch public service tv exclusivley.
I don’t get it. Is it really that easy to create a show that draws over 10 million viewers a week? I get why Alcatraz (my other cancellation of the season…) got canned. It was down to less than 5 million by the finale. But a show like this that draws that many people? Just seems surprising to me.
Bring it back – CBS has some dummies at the top
there was fierce competition every Tues that was politics
DA!
Bring one of the best tv shows back!
CBS I’m ashamed of you…..you cancelled one of the best Series Unforgettable…This is why I dont watch new series shows bc networks dont give a show a chance!! The only show I will be watching on CBS is NCIS as for anything else you come out with I will not watch bc I’m tired of watching shows and there cancelled CBS you are not the only network that has made me mad ABC for cancelling OLTL, Missing and GCB think I will not watch any of it and I will start watching other Networks!! Shame Shame on u atleast finish… Read more »
I enjoyed this show very much and Tuesdays I would tend to tune in for NCIS and stay through the night but without Carrie Wells I will now switch stations after NCIS. I liked this show for a few reasons. Yes, Ms. Montgomery is very attractive and the sexual energy between her and Dylan Walsh’s was fun to watch but I also liked the way the show ran as a straight police procedural using her skills of memory. They did not play it hokey they just used it as a tool. Her character was empathetic much like Ms. Hargitay’s has… Read more »
Oh no…you mean I won’t see the sexy Dylan Walsh on TV no more… 🙁
I really liked this show. The main problem as I see it is that most viewers have never met very clever people before and do not know how they act. Most are individuals or have skills that we would never dream of having so how could many relate to a person who is cocky as Terry Wells knows few people live up to her expectations. Look at the men she loved during the first season. I for one will miss this show and every week I for one looked forward to the advancement of finding Terry’s sister’s murderer!
CBS should be ashamed of themselves. Unforgettable was my only reason to watch tv on tuesdays. very upset. very disappointed. Another reason for me to quit TV watching all together. I have been considering this decision for sometime based on the fact that every time i faithfully invest in a show on any of the networks I get ripped off by their poor decision to put it on the same night with a show that has nothing to do with the theme of its content or it starts out well in the timeslot it is on only to be interupted… Read more »
